I agree with all the person's comments who gave Elvenstar a 2 star review although I rank it a 1. The customer service is greatly lacking. The horses are not well taken care of. They appear to teach sit and stay on approach rather than actual riding skills at the beginning and intermediate levels. I heard one girl mention she was held in the walk trot class for over a year so they don't appear to pay attention to needs of their riders. In general the staff is not friendly and act as if they are a high end facility when I saw no evidence to being high end. They are a small to midsize barn not offering anything special outside of what other barns offer. Their good trainers left to other barns or retired. There appears to be favoritism towards clients with more expensive horses. Money seems to be the focal point rather than horsemanship and relationship of horse and rider.

The website looks nice but the barn itself is lacking in many ways.

My daughter (7yr.old) took group lessons here on a Groupon deal. Her instructor Gwyn was very friendly and very encouraging to all the girls in her class. By the way we had a group lesson with Kaycee also, she was more professional, strict if you will, then Gwyn but she was still nice to the girls. The place is very large and I was impressed with how clean it was. There was a little horse waste in the stalls where they tack up the lesson horses but not much. Each horse has their own bridle and bit labeled. I found that to be interesting. They provide riding helmets and vests for the girls. They were concerned about safety and really made sure my "little" girl was not stepped on by accident. We just finished two weeks of summer camp here as well. My daughter LOVED it! I thought it was VERY expensive and there were 17 campers!! That made for a lot of wait time during instruction and during the pony demonstration ride for parents on Fridays. I found the camp instructor Gwyn to be very friendly with the girls. The office staff in not unfriendly BUT they could definitely be a little more welcoming (maybe smile and greet you when you enter the office). Over all I recommend Elvenstar. If you are looking to learn how to ride competetively then they are probably the place for you since many of the riders do compete. It is expensive (not that much more than many other places around the same area) so if you are just learning to ride and you want more of a personal attention type situation then I might recommend a different place we took lessons. If you want to learn how to ride to show or compete then perhaps this is just the place for you. I gave it 4 stars because the office staff could be more friendly, and there was a lot of wait time due to class size (8 riders) and camp size (17 riders).

I rode here for close to 3 years, and have ridden at a total of five barns, Elvenstar is by far the worst of those five. It's a very serious show barn, which, to it's credit, does manage to produce some talented riders. However, the environment is incredibly unfriendly and stuck up. It is not a pleasant or relaxing place to ride, as it is very crowded. Most of the crowd is made up of inexperienced, messy, young riders taking lessons on the overworked and uncared for lesson horses, who either spend their day knee-high in manure or being ridden in 10 straight lessons. There is defiantly a vibe of 'money first, horses second'. Unless of course you have a lot of money to spare, then they seem to actually care, or pretend too. The management is also very rude, as well as some of the trainers. It's not a place to go if you are looking into learning to ride, the lessons are expensive and you do not get much out of it. By far the rudest, messiest, uncaring barn I have boarded at. Take the time to find a nicer place!

I disagree with Kat. the pastures and stalls for school horses are very clean. They are very well cared for and certainly better than other places I have been. If Kat was so unhappy why stay for 3 years? I love it there and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Anyone can ride no matter what your level. it is a great place to be!!!!
