A neighborhood gem! Emissary is one of those rare spots that you can come by for brunch/lunch/dinner or for coffee/pastry/dessert. Everything I’ve tried on the menu is excellent and thoughtfully prepared. I love coming here to get work done, or to grab a quick bite after the gym, or drinks with a few friends at their speakeasy bar. The prices are very reasonable and the staff are always so accommodating even when very busy. Ooh!!! You gotta try their homemade bread. It’s AMAZING!
Emissary on P st a nice place to have lunch if you're in the area - nice patio and lovely brick walls. And the food is fresh. I have not tasted their coffee yet, but it looks like a really nice place to spend lunch.Food: 4/5
It was my first time here and the experience was superb. Julio was super attentive to every need. The coffee was delicious and the coffee cream was WARM, simply perfect. I had the “Desayuno Cafetero” which come with a delicious Colombian arepa. Will definitely return.Food: 5/5
We had the best time at Emissary!!! Fantastic food and great service!! Julio was so kind and gave the best recommendations. Amazing special of the day - pumpkin gnocchi. Great atmosphere and great service. Good happy hour deals. Highly recommend!!Food: 5/5
Chai was good. Great amount of seating. I imagine the café would be amazingly cool during the summer since it has a lot of stone and being slightly underground.
Couldn't resist when I walked by since it had outdoor seating on a beautiful evening. Good Farro & Quinoa salad, but not much farro or quinoa Perhaps understaffed outside, as I waited 30 minutes for a water refill and my check.
Lovely cafe with excellent food and pastries. It’s certainly not cheap, but the smashed avocado toast is amazing and they have one of the best almond croissants I’ve ever hadRecommended dishesAlmond Croissant, Smashed Avocado Toast with Extra Egg
My experience at Emissary was below average. I ordered via GrubHub on Saturday evening. It was crowded and busy when I arrived. There were four people working the bar and serving. They seemed flustered and disorganized, but they were pleasant. One of the servers/baristas was so busy that she didn't even acknowledge me. She walked past me several times while I was waiting at the register, and then called to someone in the kitchen to help me. The two gentlemen working at the bar were nice, but were definitely busy and scattered. I ordered an almond croissant and a golden milk latte. I was only given the golden milk latte at first. I returned to the register to get the croissant. Another server chose a croissant and gave it to me. She gave me a ham and cheese croissant. I noticed it was the wrong croissant after I took a bite. I returned to the register and had to wait for a few minutes before someone actually acknowledged me again. A different gentleman helped me this time, apologized, and gave me a plain croissant free of charge. Both the croissants were decent. The plain croissant was better than the ham and cheese croissant. The ham and cheese croissant was cold. It would've been better had it been heated. The golden milk latte was good. It would be tough for me to return to Emissary after this experience. Maybe I'd return on a weekday if I had the time, but I don't know about returning on a Saturday night. The atmosphere and the service were chaotic, and the food and beverage weren't good enough to deal with the chaos.
Stopped by one weekday morning to catch up with an old friend and this was the perfect place to do it. Loved the space and how relaxed the environment was. Here are some of my thoughts: Environment I really loved the space - it was very chill and relaxed. Plenty of space inside to sit and relax whether it be hanging out with friends, catching up on work or reading a good book - there are plenty of places to tuck a way and make it your own experience. The vibe is chill, warm and welcoming. It's somewhat tucked underground but still has great natural light that adds to it's charm. I loved that there was also options for outside seating - which is great on a nice day and where me and my friend decided to sit. It was fairly empty at the time that I went so not sure what its like on busy days but i can imagine that it can fill up quickly. Service The service was great and fairly quick. You order at the counter and then they will make your order and call you when it's ready like many coffee shops. Friendly barista and staff that were very accommodating. Food and Drinks I only had a mocha that was pretty good and would definitely go back to try other things off the menu. Overall Perfect place to relax and grab a coffee or a snack with a friend or for a break at work or just to catch up on news or read a good book. Ambiance was relaxed and chill with good warm welcoming energy. I would add this to the list of places I would go to for a good coffee and talk.
This cafe is very cozy and comfortable. Great mood & atmosphere. However the matcha latte I ordered was dreadful, worst I’ve ever had. Might try a coffee next time instead.Food: 2/5
