Celebrating 125 years in 2017!
When you have mighty Telluride for a neighbor, you need something pretty cool to be noticed. High in the San Juan Mountain Range, in the town smaller than a mile, the big attraction was beaver. Then they saw glittering specks before their eyes, and the Silver Rush began in the West. The town swelled to 5000 as people came to Rico. Of course when you take a pickax to a mountain, it might get a crush on you. Knowing they could die tomorrow, hard rock miners learned to live today. There were 23 saloons and three blocks of friendly females. In 1892 the railroad came to town and this building went up. Mining offices were upstairs and downstairs was the bar. It's named after the Enterprise Mine, the long silver strak that started it all. When the precious metal played out the rush moved on, leaving the ones who loved her for her beauty. More than a century later the the mountains are still powerful. They can make you want to buy a tent and find your soul. The downstairs is just like it was in the old days, inhabited by the folks who get that the best time to live your life is right now.
