I attended a funeral recently of friend who died from slipping and falling in the bathtub. He had a knot on the back of his head and that is it. Not that you would know it from looking at him at his wake, though, because they did the worst job on a body that I have ever seen. I could literally see superglue crusted on his skewed lips, his hands hovered over his torso in an uncompleted folding position and his fingers had black dust under his nails. There was more that other people noticed but I could not look at him for that long. It was too painful to see him look as though he had been reconstructed from a car accident. I would have given this place negative stars if the Pastor who delivered the service was apart of their staff. He fumbled over his speech while reading from a paper, continuously referenced the wrong age for the deceased and was more concerned about preaching what many in the room considered a Sunday sermon than ministering about grief. The entire experience was off putting and not at all what our friend deserved. I pray our contribution helped in lifting the price tag of this shoddy sendoff from the shoulders of the families who turned to them in their time of deep sorrow. The one star I do have to give is to the staff as they were very professional (even if poor craftsmen) and the well decorated home. If I were you and I were considering this venue for a service dedicated to my loved one... I would avoid it. If you have little other options, hover. Hover over every detail and do not let them bully you in any sense of the word. Do what is right not only for you and for them, but for the last memory of them that your friends will have.
