Great local ecology and education center in Evanston. Also a great place to rent for a unique spot to host kid's birthday parties which we just did for our 4 yo son. Kind of a subtle and unassuming hidden gem in the neighborhood which I at least wouldn't have thought about for a bday party vs more "traditional" places like Little Beans, Funtopia or Kids Empire. Our son is sensitive to sensory overload, so it was actually a way more low key and chill vibe compared to some of the other places I mentioned. Definitely recommended if you're looking for a unique place to host an event or bday party for youngins.
What a great place!! They have all kinds of little events for a reasonable admission fee. Usually you have to register beforehand. Most recently, i got to pet a skunk.
This place is great. It's in a beautiful location by the bridge, nestled near a creek. I found out that all the animals housed here, used to be puts that just get dumped off here. Tarantulas, horned lizards, Guinea pigs, bunnies, giant tortoises, turtles. The host birthday parties in a smaller area next to the entrance, and larger events in a large room at the end of the hall.
Great place for a birthday party! All the kids sat on a huge carpet space and a staff member brought out various animals to teach them about, and let them get close and feel. There was a rabbit, tortoise, guinea pig and others. They also had playdough, and molding clay that the kids could press animal footprints into, take home and bake to harden/keep. The room was big enough for a few tables off for the side where the kids had pizza, cake and space for party bags after. There were also lots of aquariums with turtles, a tarantula, snakes and so forth. They also had a sand table where about four kids at a time could dig through and find various shells, pieces of wood and other materials. Kids were between the ages of 2 and 7, and they all looked like they were having a great time as parents looked on, participated and socialized. On our way out, I saw a wedding party in the grand hall in the back of the ecology center, so this seems like a great place to plan your events.
This is a very nice place to hold a small event. I really enjoyed it.
Was used for a family gathering. Loved outdoor access points where the younger children could play and be watched by adults. Large windows facing the walking path, tables outside along with benches and chairs made from tree stumps!
This place is great! Went there for a 4 year old birthday party. Kids got to touch 4 or 5 live animals, do crafts and run around outside. We will definitely be back!
Very impressed with the cleanliness and the services provided by the city at this location.
We came here for a wedding reception and it was lovely! The hall is very nice and the grounds are great for everyone to walk around and mingle. Great setting!
A great venue for small to medium events about 80 people or less is ideal. Plenty of parking, reasonable rates, and a helpful staff make this an ideal place for parties and events.
