This was our second trip to Fairfield SP - the lot #87 was nice and big although our trailer was in the sun most of the day. There was however a nice shady area down below closer to the lake. We were right across the street from the restrooms, which was nice since we had company visiting. We were disappointed that the hiking trails were closed due to overgrown conditions. The whole park looked liked it needed a good mowing/trimming. The lake too has overgrown with reeds. It would be so nice to be able to have a good view of the lake, but there was to many bushes and brush everywhere. Supposedly a Boy Scout group is coming in November to help out with the grooming of the park. We really like this park and hope that this is not a problem come next year, otherwise we will have to reconsider revisiting.

Took a Cub Scout pack camping there. Friendly and helpful staff, good facilities (even though construction was taking place) and a beautiful setring.

Best place in the metro to bow fish for tilapia, watch out for the band of racoons who hang out near the fish cleaning station, they can be very bold and aggressive even during daylight hours.

As for a camping and RV park it's a nice place to stay, you also get power and water. The bathrooms are something that needs improvements. Shower stalls need a cover to the bench so your items don't get wet, AC for the summer months because the bath area gets hot & high on the list is Wifi!!! The lake is nice and cozy and the kids play areas are adequate. I understand it's camping and roughing it, but it's the 21st century so a few upgrades would make this a much better place to stay.

Choose your site carefully your neighbors may be too close to you. Your picnic table maybe on the wrong side of your RV. This park seems to be very laxed on their rules. Many more than eight guests are allowed per site. Noise levels, PA systems seem to be okay here. We had to move once just to get the quiet seclusion we were looking for in a state park. On a positive note we did end up staying another day. Also note at this time only one camping area is open Cook's Ferry, the other two are under construction.
