I've been going to this hair salon for the last few months for a wash and blow dry because it's close, cheap and they do a good job. So today I went and this time my hair stylist was Alice. I told her I wanted a wash, blow dry and a trim. After she washed my hair and took me to her chair, she proceeded to comb out my hair.

As she was combing my hair, she kept saying how 'difficult' my hair is to comb and asking me questions as to how I straighten my hair. I'm black and I have relaxed hair and I've gone to other hair dressers of different ethnicites and this is the first time that anyone has complained about my hair being difficult to comb. At that point it became quite obvious that she had never done a black woman's hair before.

Then she says she wanted to charge me $47 dollars for the cut and blow dry because of the difficulty of my hair. But after she started blow drying my hair she says, "Oh your hair isn't that bad, I'll drop the price to $41." (Before I went into the salon, I didn't know how much a cut and blowdry would be). The fact that she initially wanted to charge me more because of the texture of my hair is outrageous. The whole time that she was blow drying my hair, she kept asking me all of these questions about hair relaxers. She seemed very fascinated by this (even though I would think all hair dressers should at least know what a hair relaxer is).

In addition to Alice complaining and making negative comments about my hair, I also had asked her for a trim, but instead I wound up with a hair cut. I kept telling her that she cut it too short, but she kept saying, 'No, I did't, I barely cut anything.' Oddly enough after she blew dry my hair I wasn't sure if she took too much off or not, but now that it's been a few days I see where my hair now is drastically shorter. 

I really hate my haircut and the service that I received (I never even wanted a haircut, but a trim clearly Alice does not know the difference). I spent $41 on a haircut and having to listen to a hair stylist berate my hair.

Long story short, I was a little offended about her comments regarding my hair. If she really thought my hair was so difficult to comb, why not just keep these opinions to yourself? Alice is nice and has a pleasant personality and I don't think she meant to offend me but sometimes you have to think before you speak.

The only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars is because I've always had a pleasant time going to Fantastic Sams at Studio City up until now.

This was the first and last time I'm ever coming here. They really messed up my haircut from the back.. Didn't even realize it until my buddy pointed it out later on that night. I'm very upset.. I shouldn't have to fix it myself or go back to fix it..

The price of a high quality haircut, without actually achieving it. Don't get me wrong, they did a good job at cutting my hair, but for the price I paid, I would have much rather gone to a higher quality salon for their service. The hair stylist who cut my hair was friendly, as it was apparent she knew what she was doing.

Love this particular franchise... the owner and team treat you as if you were in a 5 star salon and the final product each time is nothing short of pure beauty.

I generally go to Beverly Hills for coloring my roots and a blow dry. I generally pay $80 - $90 for the service not including the tip. 

Two weeks ago, I went to Fantastic Sams in Glendale, Americana on Brand. For the same service, they charged me total of $55.00 ($25 saving) and the service was excellent. 

Today, I was around Studio City, so I decided to go to Fantastic Sam at 12040 Ventura Blvd. I thought the price as the same or close to $55.00, but no, they lady charged me $80.00 - The questions remains is that why would I go to Fantastic Sams when I can go to Beverly Hills and pay the same. Never mind the location and service!!! 

This was the last time, I will go to this location. The lady who did not hair kept on telling me how celebrities go to her because she is the best. I was laughing in my mind thinking 'Does she know who she is talking to?" Apparently no since I do not care who goes there. Its Fantastic Sams...I guess not anymore!!!!
