Story

Farm Country Cheese House broke ground in April, 1983 and began production in July of 1984. From the beginning, the Amish communities in and around Lakeview, Michigan have supplied all of the milk and most of the labor to process the wide variety of cheeses we sell.

We purchased a block of the Colby cheese and were very disappointed that the cheese had a distinctive, offensive after taste. We called and informed the staff, they said they would check into it and get back to us, which they never did. Unfortunately, we would not recommend this cheese to anyone.

Some of the finest handmade cheeses in Michigan are found in this store. Today I purchased Onion and Garlic, Smoked Cheddar and Colby. They also ship across the country for Internet orders. I appreciate the store and their knowledgeable staff.

Was out exploring in our new neighborhood and came upon this place, YUMMY!  The butter tastes so fresh.  Love to buy Michigan products.  The cheese is made local and my husband loved the spicy beef sticks.  Eggs for sale right down the road too =)

I have been shopping here for over 10 years and always loved the cheeses. Noticing prices and quality starting to slip a little the last purchase in October 2015. Maybe the demand is starting to hurt quality. I like the aged cheeses best and the price has been going up way too fast!
