I started with a mortgage loan at Farmers & Merchants Bank in Berlin.  They were easy to work with and everything was taken care of promptly.  I had some questions about the annual tax payments - they were able to help me over the phone, no problem.

Then I went for a business loan.  At first everything seemed to be going ok, but when I didn't hear from them I reach out with a phone call and found out the person I had started working with was no longer at the bank.  Oh no! But this wasn't a problem for long, one of the management took over right away and worked with me to collect all the documentation they needed to review.  The loan process was much longer this time, and we had to confer back and forth for sometime.  I understand there is a risk they are taking in backing a business venture and they needed to carefully assess that risk.  Fortunately for me, the loan was approved.

After that, I opened my business bank account with them and they have gone above and beyond to help me and the staff in using some of the latest technology to make our business banking and payroll as easy as possible.

My favorite thing, beyond how helpful the office staff has been, is the electronic banking website!  It gives me a ton of useful information, all at my finger tips!  It allows me to check balances and interest payments, move money from account to account, and provides analysis on expenditures.  I know there is a lot more to learn from it - I just need to take the time to learn it.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this locally owned and operated bank to my family and friends.

They are shady at best bordering on criminal in my opinion. We were horribly treated by the owners themselves. 
  I would not trust them to look after a childs piggy bank. 
 Very short sighted people driven by having, I believe,  to clean up after their mistakes.
 They seem to have quite a lot of relatives banking with them based on the 5 star reviews.

I like this bank i have not gad a "bad" experience. That being said i applied for a home lone and was turned down even with all of the good we have going for us financially since we have a history i wont leave this bank just felt like we were slapped in the face.

Well. I bank with them and they are very nice and i just like the way they communicate as when u go there if feels like you're part of them.

This is a bank that lacks communication and respect. Depending who you are or who you know is what determines the way your experience at this bank will be. Seems to be that policies vary depending on the person. The only reason I give it 1 star is because the loan department is amazing the people that work in that department are very professional and efficent. Sadly have had bad experiences with this bank way to many times
