Story

Faux Real Hair Design Studio is a unique salon, like no other in West Texas. The atmosphere is warm and inviting beyond the cookie cutter design of so many salons. The owners and staff set the tone with a heart for service to their clients. The community, the culture, and the creative talents of the owners and staff makes for an experience you will want to repeat time and time again.
This group was created by their dedicated and devoted clients that leave not only looking fabulous, but renewed, refreshed, and relaxed from the inside out. Voted in 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014 as "Best of the West" by our clientele through KCBD as well as voted "Best of Lubbock" 2011 , 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 by our clients through Lubbock Avalanche Journal. I was referred and went there yesterday as a walk in with my daughter. We were greeted the moment we walked in the door! The atmosphere was fabulous and it did not smell like a bunch of chemicals as do your typical salons. The lady we were referred to was not in but they found someone right off the bat to go ahead and help us. I was offered a cup of coffee while I waited and was seated right next to the station where my daughter was getting her hair cut on a very comfortable couch. The girl who cut my daughters hair was new and my daughter was her first cut in this salon and that made me a bit nervous, but all turned out well! My daughter was pleased as was I and one of the owners as well as other stylist kept coming by and making small talk. I was so pleased that my middle child and I both have appointments for this Saturday.

I am not one to generally do this, but I feel the need to warn other women. I was very concerned at getting my haircut by someone other than the hairdresser I have had my whole life. But she assured me that my haircut was very simple and that anyone could do it. Apparently not. I showed the hairdresser at Faux the photo I have used for the last three years of how I like my hair cut.  Very simple, one length, straight cut.  I now have choppy layers, and another hairdresser who attempted to fix the cut said that it "looked like her five-year-old daughter did it." And I now have "bangs on the back of my head." The lady at Faux, used a razor to "layer," really chop, random lengths into my hair. The layers at the top of my head are so short I cannot pull them back in any way. My bangs that were once down to my chin (the same length as the rest of my hair) are now at my eye level. She thined my hair so much (I have very fine hairs and have no reason to have it thinned) that it now looks like I have a mullet. I cannot wear a hat because it is so short and choppy that the cut in the back looks like a boy. I can't wear a visor because the layers on top are so short it looks like a mushroom. The hairdresser was not paying attention at all, she was gossiping with another hairdresser. When I expressed my concern she told me not to worry and that I would like it. Since when is it okay for a hairdresser to tell me what I will like? I am an avid runner and keep my hair long enough to pull back for a reason. That will not be possible for at least five months. I am absolutely devestated. This place does not deserve a star.
