Story

The County Clerk's duties include:
• The recording and administration of official documents of many kinds
• The preparation and printing of property tax bills
• The registration of voters and conduct of elections
• The registration and titling of motor vehicles

In Fayette County, the office contains records that date back to before Kentucky's statehood in 1792. Fayette County is one of the three original counties formed in 1780.

The Fayette County Clerk's office moved from the courthouse to its present location at 162 E. Main Street in 1984.

Best customer service at a county clerks office ever! We went in Thursday before our wedding to get our license everyone was super friendly and professional and the service was fast. I even called to follow up after we mailed in our license and again super friendly super professional answered all my questions. We are from out of state and I am very glad to have had such a great team helping us there.

Awsome service. Line moved fast. We had a copy of our sons cars registration and it was in his name. Without the original we could get it renewed. Lady helping suggested maybe we had the original at home since he had a copy in the car. Sure enough we went home and found the original. No need for affidavit and notary of his signature. I was given a purple pass to use if we found t that day and returned. No need to stand in line again.

Awful. Transferred a car title from Indiana to Ky. Told i needed title lien statement from dealer or bank. Both dealer and bank said i didn't need statement and refused to fill out paperwork. I told clerk this on 3rd trip down there. She called dealer and dealer told her they would not complete paper. She then told me to take it to bank. i told her again that the bank said it wasn't needed and would not complete. I then produced paper work that i had already emailed to the clerk a week earlier. In the email i asked if this was sufficient. Never got a response back from clerk. Clerk gave me a frustrated look and said the paper was what she needed. She never asked on i got it. I got it off the Boyle co. clerk website because fayette co clerk doesn't have it on their website. I guess you need to use the Boyle co website to satisfy fayette co requirements.

My husband and I had to transfer our motorcycle. It came from Ohio. It needed to be inspected. We had trouble finding the back entrance that we had to go in. I was looking around the loading dock and a cleaning woman helped me find the door to the offices. Everyone was super nice. We dealt with 3 different people 4 counting the cleaning woman. They were all so helpful.

I went to this DMV yesterday around 4:17 P.M. Yes I know that they close at 4:30, but what I needed taken care of would take less than 3 minutes at the most. The tall, skinny, young, gay guy said very loudly "I don't know why they come here ten minutes before closing time?" He was rolling his eyes and acting very obnoxious. I'm very happy that I didn't tell him what I almost did. I will be speaking to his boss first thing tomorrow. They don't close until 4:30 P.M., so I will ask his boss maybe he should start clocking out and going home for the day at 4:17 P.M since apparently he doesn't get paid working until 4:30! I would say 90% of the staff are about as equal as him with their customer service skills.
