Story

Fernwood Forest Campground offers 115 acres of natural woodlands adjacent to the Appalachian Trail. Swimming, boating and fishing is provided by nearby Plunkett Lake. Planned activities are offered on some weekends. The camp sits are spacious and all have water hookups, stone fire pit, and picnic table. The RV sites also have electric hookups with 20/30/50 amps of electricity. Pump out service, dump station firewood, bulk propane, Laundromat. and free WIFI are available. The campground has been family owned and operated for 21 years.

Stayed from Fri through Sun last weekend and although we got some rain was very happy with the place. 20 ft RV fit nicely into my mostly flat spot and no problems with hookups,  etc.  This is an old style campground with some upscale fringes like Wi-Fi. The sites were good size and the fire pit was nice size as well. 

We really liked the place. Friendly and helpful with just the right amount of hands off.

We stayed for the weekend a couple of weeks ago.  We rented a site with a camper.  Our stay was great.  There is a morning Reveille from other campgrounds.  It goes off around 8 or 9am...other than that there was not a bunch of noise.  We had a firepit, picnic table ..air-conditioning for the hottest part of the day. We enjoyed ourselves so much we have rented again in July.  The showers are a bit confusing, once you figure out the taps...there is plenty of hot water.

Very expensive. No electric lines to tent sites. No trash bins - you have to carry everything across the (large) camp to the dumpsters. Lukewarm showers. Loud in the summertime, because there are overnight summer camps on either side and both run late into the evening - no chance getting to sleep before 10pm. On the other hand, very friendly service, and a nice little town.
