12/3/17 My mother was sent her by her employer to get three $25 tickets for a concert on the following Sunday. After driving around the facility for quite some time, we finally spotted a gentleman who appeared to be a security guard. He automatically assumed we were looking for "the free stuff" in another building. After speaking with him, He then told us to go to the welcome center for tickets. We finally reached the building we thought was the welcome center. The receptionist spoke to my mother through an intercom, and vaguely answered her questions about the concert. In the midst of their conversation, another woman walks up and the receptionist immediately opens the door and says "come on in". The person who was let in seemed to feel bad for my mother and decided to tell her that the concert was sold out. My mother was very upset and didn't even get to enjoy the rest of her day. She even asked a cashier in the gas station if she looked like she could pose a threat, because she couldn't understand why the receptionist at First Baptist Church did not want to speak to her formally. I'm not going to assume that this was an act of racism, but I could've sworn churches were supposed to be non judgemental. I don't see why my mother wasn't allowed to come in to potentially pay and receive tickets. She's 4'9, petite, and has a smile that reaches both ears, she couldn't have harmed a fly if she wanted.

It is very welcoming. First Baptist Church Augusta makes its sanctuary available to Symphony Orchestra Augusta. SOA thanks the church for its longtime support.
