Story

American Baptists proclaim the good news of the atoning death and ressurection of Jesus Christ, knowing that salvation (forgiveness of sin, release from guilt and condemnation, reconciling with God) and eternal life are granted in grace to all who trust Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. This Gospel is the central message of the Bible.

First Baptist Church of Morgantown is also part of the WV Baptist Convention www.wvbc.org

We are closely involved with Alderson-Broadess College in Philippi, WV, Camp Cowen Youth Camp in Cowen, WV, Parchment Valley, the West Virginia Baptist Conference Center in Ripley, and Baptist Campus Ministries which maintains an outreach in our building.

As part of the WV Baptist Convention we are locally involved with the Goshen Association, which consists of eight churches in the surrounding area. These churches maintain a fellowship for the uplifting, support and exchange of ministries for Baptist believers within our immediate area. They are:

Mission

The mission of First Baptist Church is to serve God by living and spreading a Christ-centered life through evangelism, worship, fellowship, discipleship and service. We recognize our unique downtown location in the West Virginia University community and accept the challenge this presents.
