God is still speaking. No matter who you are, or where you on on life's journey, you're welcome here.
The United Church of Christ has a long history of inclusiveness. For
example:
• In 1795, we were the first Protestant denomination to ordain an
African American.
• In 1853, we were the first denomination to ordain a woman.
• In 2005, we were the first mainline denomination to support marriage
equality for same-sex couples.
We extend extravagant hospitality, acceptance, and affirmation to reflect God’s inclusive love. We seek vitality in worship, learning, and advocacy. We are committed to working for justice from a global perspective. Believing in God's continuing testament, we are committed to hearing God's ancient story anew and afresh in our lives in today’s world. We hold religion and science to be compatible; therefore, both your head and your heart are welcome in our church. Although our faith is 2,000 years old, our thinking is not.
The mission of our church is:
To love and accept others unconditionally as God loves and accepts us, and by example, to encourage others to do the same.
To challenge ourselves to grow spiritually through worship, education, nurture, reflection, discussion, fellowship, and outreach.
To minister to others locally, nationally, and globally with the same fervor as we minister to ourselves, through the sharing of our talents, gifts, and resources.
We hold ourselves accountable before God for this mission statement.
