When I first brought my daughter there I thought it was a great school. During the winter months I would come to pick up my daughter and I would see them leaving snot running down her face. All the kids would have runny noses all the time and I would see the teachers talking to each other instead of doing their job and keeping their face clean. After saying something they kept her face clean most of the time. I take my daughter out of the school for awhile and after about a month I realized that I left my blanket at the school. I was letting my daughter use it because she loved that blanket so much but it was really mine. I go to the school to pick it up and they say the can't find it. Well the blanket didn't have legs so obviously one of the teachers took it home with them or they gave it away in a "blanket donation" Another thing I don't like is the fact that they are trying to charge me for an extra week when I know I pulled her out the previous week. To me they are very unprofessional and I would not recommend people to bring their kids here.

We have 17 month old twins that are enrolled at First Steps. My husband and I love that I can drop the kids off in the morning and he can pick them up in the afternoon and we do not have to worry about them throughout the day. We know they are in good hands. They have a great curriculum and enjoy going there. The teachers are very nice and spend quality time with the kids. We get children’s daily activity sheets and it’s nice to know that they aren’t just playing with toys all day long. They are actually doing constructive activities that are the building blocks as they move up through the program and move onto the next age level classroom. It’s always nice to get new fridge decorations too! We love it at First Steps and couldn’t ask for a better place to bring our kids and group of people!

It is difficult to review this correctly due to the new ownership that took over earlier in 2014. My 2 kids had been at First Steps for 5 and 7 years. The teachers there have been so wonderful over the years, but unfortunately the 3rd owner in 3 years has created a bad situation. There is a child at this daycare that needs counseling. My opinion is that she is a sociopath. The child is dangerous. Kids always hear this child say to teachers that they are going to kill them when they walk away. Last week, after this child pushed my child (once the teacher walked away...very typical of this kid), my child pushed back (I kept telling them to stick up for themselves when this sociopath is trying to bully them) and the child fell down. When my child said sorry and went to help them up, the kid kicked my child and yelled, "I am going to get a knife and stab and kill you." Long story short, after calling the police, filing a report, the director and teacher spent over an hour with my kids mom and the mother of the sociopath. The owner came to the school, got his 4 kids and LEFT!!!! Can you believe that! So we said either the sociopath is suspended, or we are pulling our kids. The owner called today and said he could not suspend the sociopath. What? You own the place!! Well, after spending over $150,000 there over the past 7 years, today we sadly move on. It is too bad. Ownership can quickly ruin a place, and in this case, First Steps is heading in the wrong direction. I fell badly for the teachers and director. They were great. They feel badly how this ended, and I thank them for the years of love they gave my kids. I think only a handful are still there since we began there...turnover has been extremely high in the past 2 years. The previous owner lasted about a year and they left (I thought they were horrible too). The owner that was there when we started in 2007 was great. After she left a few years ago, it has not been the same. How can I recommend a place that is supposed to protect your child when a sociopath is there?? Unless someone can watch the sociopath at all times, your child is in danger. If this was a public school, the sociopath would be removed. Unfortunately, we were unable to get that to take place. Sadly signing off.

I have had my children enrolled here since my youngest was an infant. Now my oldest has begun elementary school and I couldn't be happier with their growth and care. I have seen the curriculum and care provided at each level of the center and I have been pleased every step of the way. My kids literally run into the center every morning excited to see their teachers and friends. My oldest child was more than prepared to start Kindergarten and has transitioned wonderfully due largely to the help of the First Steps staff. We see the staff as an extension of our family and I am so thankful to have found them.
