Good rates (2 nights for $160).  Just know what you are getting. Small room with a twin bed and queen bed. Small bathroom with shower, but that's all we needed. Room was clean and quaint.  A/C worked well.  BBQ pits on-site (bring your own grilling supplies).  Microwave, coffee pot (bring your own condiments) and small dorm type fridge in the room. Parking was at the front door.  Grounds are well maintained.  This is not a big corporate operation so when you call, they write your name down on a piece of paper..no confirmation #s or texting you a confirmation #; which is fine.  The office door is typically locked and you have to ring the doorbell for service.  They may or may not answer the door. The office closes at 10 PM or perhaps earlier, so call ahead and make arrangements to get in your room if you plan to show up late.  We'd stay here again.

Great place if all you need is a bed and a shower. We offshore fish so we are gone all day, but the hot shower and comfortable bed and ac are sure good to come home to. Affordable too

Whether it's fishing or enjoying the surf, this is a great place to getaway and relax. It's proximity to water is to desired and the natural landscape is to be admired, pretty much untouched by man throughout the years.

Clean, utilitarian accommodations and priced very nicely. A good place to stay in matagorda, tx.

WoW!  My husband and i went to Matagorda in June and found the city quaint especially after reading an article in Texas Monthly.  Our visit was wonderful.  I noticed this Fisherman's Motel and noted to stay there for my next visit.  When i called and made the reservation it was not a problem.  Unfortunately due to unforseen circumstances I had to cancel the Tuesday or Wednesday before we left for the Aug. 4 and 5 weekend.  I talked to a lady who answered. Mentioned she was not at the hotel but would remember my name and cancel.  Today on the Saturday i was suppose to be there I notice a full change on my bank account so i called the hotel to find out why they did not cancel and the Manager was the most rude person i have ever encounter in the Hotel business.  I tried to explain what happened but she kept talking over me and was ugly and told me she called me last night and left message but none were on the phone.  I finally got out of her there was another manager who works earlier in the week and she would have to talk with her.  She kept saying" so now you call after seeing you have been charged".  She made me fill like i was trying to cheat her out of something.  What is that?  How horrible she was.  I do know she is an older woman and if the hotel does not fire her, she is going to get alot of customers not staying there.  Matagorda with hostesses like this in your area, I will take my business else where.
