When my dad passed away in 2010 we contacted the family-owned Fitz Henry Mortuary in Gardnerville/ Carson City to make arrangements. They were caring and wonderful, so when my mother passed away Nov. 1, 2017 we called them again. Fitz Henry Mortuary is now owned by a California-based company and is NOT the same! Fitz Henry's employees were rude and unprofessional. The employees who picked my mom's body up had terrible grooming The woman had tattoos, black lace t-shirts, greasy hair, thick eye make-up, jet black dyed hair, and the man was unshaven, scrubby, and greased back hair. FitzHenry told me: the funeral permit would take 7-10 days to obtain, and the funeral can't happen without a permit. If I wanted a casket in under 5 days I'd have to drive to Sacramento and pick it up myself, or to get one in time I'd have to order it from a catalogue that would be $500.00 more. When I asked about using Costco, they told me that I would be responsible to pick up the casket from the Reno Airport! I asked about making concessions for religious reasons to have a funeral sooner, they said that it was just too bad! I called Walton's Mortuary in Gardnerville/ Carson City. I spoke to them over the phone and they were wonderful, so I decided to use them instead. When I called Fitzhenry's to tell them of the change they were very rude. Suddenly, they lost my paperwork and had no information on my mom to pass on to Walton's Mortuary. Walton's had the permit in two days, price-matched the Costco casket (and I didn't have to pick it up myself!), and did everything they could to make everything easy and simple. Walton's was very accommodating and kind, and even gave me a folder with important information of what to do, like contact Social Security, utility companies, etc.

Fitzhenry's handled my Grandmother, Father's and Mother's end of life arrangements and we're very helpful. Thank you

The staff were professional and kind for my husband's recent cremation. Staff was respectful and careful removing his body from the home. Every service was offered to us from the funeral home, even to carrying out the remains to my car. I would use them again.

Absolutely horrible, they were not able to fully explain there packages. So we panicked and just chose something. They were very unprofessional when you are in that type of business you should be fully knowlegable on your products and be abl to help those whose minds are often confused, frazzled, shocked in grief. They said it was too much of a hassle to break out waivers for our friends to participate in a private viewing. They also stated that they were going to send the birth certificates via mail. They got my addressed then when the certificate came in they called and told us to pick it up. Why go through the pocess of asking questions on the deliverance of the certifcates whe you dont review files prior to contacting a mourning family. They were very unprofessional, unorganized and not helpful at all. So upset with the service they provided.
