Story

Fitzroy Provincial Park is a provincial park on the Ottawa River, Ontario designated as recreational-class by Ontario Parks. Majestic white pine covers much of this park beside the Ottawa River. The park features century-old trees and a stand of 300-year-old bur oaks by the Carp River while shale terraces and pillars reveal a glacial past and an even mightier waterway. There are two campgrounds within the park both with comfort stations, a boat launch and park store. The main campgrounds offer 235 treed and private campsites, 107 with electrical service, and 205 with room for trailers. A separate area features facilities for group camping and picnicking.

We love Fitzroy harbour! We've taken a week off this summer and last and spent them at Fitzroy. Its very kid friendly, which is why is usually busy but that doesn't bother us. Both the sites and the washrooms are tidy. Can't wait til we got back next summer!

Great time, nice sites. Book a site on the Carp River! Some sites on the Ottawa River side have a "lovely" (not) view of the Chats Falls generating station, along with a background hum... But sites in the Carp River are fantastic. If water is warm and not too low, and you have something to float on, you can do a lazy river ride!

Great spot, although can be really busy! We love to go here day-camping, we plan for the whole day. They have some good barbecue pits and we always cook up a yummy lunch/dinner. You can canoe and just take a hike around the wooded areas. Very nice spot to hang out with the family.

An interesting park. Lots of greenery and privacy in the campsites. So close to Ottawa. Lots to explore on land and on water. Be sure to check the distance to the electrical before you set up your camper.

I had really low expectations for this park and just chose it because it was convenient for friends but it was actually fine! A lot of the sites were muddy (ours wasn't) and I was sad that they actually rented them out to people. They should have been closed because they were practically swamps. There were 2 hiking trails, the short one was pretty, the long one was not. The longer trail (3km) had "landmarks" along the way but other than the tiny waterfall, the others were all normal things. One was a "vista point" which showed hydro towers... If you're just looking for a spot to put down your tent, this place works. If you want anything special at all, this is not the place for you.
