The Floral Park Police Department was established in 1918 when its first full-time police officers, Al Surprise and James Peterson, were appointed. A booth on the southeast corner of South Tyson Avenue and Jericho Turnpike was set up as Police Headquarter

Mission

To work in partnership with the people of the Village of Floral Park to prevent crime and preserve the peace and order of the Village while serving and protecting all persons, safeguarding their property and enhancing the quality of life, through professional, superior and compassionate policing.

Due to fire on Jericho tpke./ Littleneck pkwy. the streets were in the process of being blocked off. Again in the process. Not blocked off totally. In my opinion cops are trained in these situations to keep their cool and keep pedestrians and passersbys as calm as possible . However this was not the case! The supervisor driving vehicle #356, did not have this control and due to his lack of self control and inability to properly handle a situation and properly block of a street and run his mouth with a passerby approached my vehicle and started to sound off with his mouth while I had my children in the car and. It was not warranted or deserved and if I did something wrong there is a better was to say and or address it. As an officer of the law you are supposed to protect and serve the citizens being a cop does not give you the right to belittle and disrespect others. This situation was handled poorly.
