We have been bringing our two Standard Poodles (7 1/2 and 5 1/2) to Fondren Five Star since the oldest was a pup. They do doggie day care about once a week with Ms. Paula. They LOVE it and get so excited to see their furry friends and human friends; they start quivering with excitement as soon as we pull in the parking lot. They are groomed by Ms. Ruth and -- as much as they hate the process -- they still enjoy being with sweet Ruth. Joann, Susan, Vicki, Mary -- all the ladies are marvelous and true animal lovers. We have also boarded several times and have had only a great experience.

I brought my dog Zues here a little less than a year ago for daycare and when he first started coming the staff literally had to carry him to the room. After about 2 weeks, he knew the building and as soon as we would pull up he would perk up and immediately follow the staff to the back, now he jumps out of the car behind me and runs to the door. The staff are very courteous, knowledgeable, and friendly. I recently moved closer to my job off of I-10 so Zeus is not able to attend daycare as often, when I do have a day off, Zeus is at Fondren 5 Star for the day and trust me when I say he has no memory loss of where he is even though he not there as often!

I love this kennel. I love getting my dog back with no issues. Last time we left her somewhere else, she got fleas. This has never happened at Fondren 5 Star Kennels. I would love to keep bringing my dog to Fondren, but the last time I tried to schedule something with them, the woman on the phone was rude, she wouldn't answer my questions, she wouldn't work with me in any way. She was very curt and impatient with me. I am a really easy person to deal with on the phone. If you can't do something, that's fine, but there is no reason to be rude about it. By the end of the conversation, I was shaking I was so angry. I did absolutely nothing wrong, I just had a few questions about booking some time at the kennel. She made absolutely no effort to accommodate me. In my book, there is no call for rude customer service. I won't be going back to FFSK even though I like their kennel. I don't ever want to deal with that kind of customer service again. So, for customer service - I give it 2 stars For the actual kennel - I give it 5 stars.

****Update to my review below. The owner of Fondren 5 Star contacted me and informed me that the employee that was suppose to be watching after my dog was fired. I was given a full refund since the service was not up to par. The swift action by the owner leads me to believe that not only does she care about her business but she also cares about the pets stay and quality of service. I appreciate her honesty in accepting responsibility and have updated my rating to reflect. If I have to choose between boarding my dog here or not going on vacation....vacation plans will be cancelled. As you walk into the front door the place smells like urine. I looked past that thinking: "well alot of dogs probably have accidents when they arrive/leave this place". I left my dog for a 3 day stay and when I picked her up she smelled like urine. The lady at the fron desk informed me that the dog in the kennel next to mine had peed in its kennel and it had run into my dogs kennel where it got on her paws. She said she "washed" my dog down when I picked her up,but she either lied about the washing down or "washed" her down with more pee. This can only lead me to believe that the dog that peed had probably been stuck in his kennel for sometime and the care givers are not ever taking the dogs out (dogs do not pee/poop where they sleep). And I do not believe that the urine only got on my dogs paws. The smell was so bad that I had to throw the blanket I put down for her in my car away because with her laying on it, it smelled like urine as well. Her collar (which she did not wear at the kennel) also now smelled like urine (also got thrown away). When we got home I bathed my dog before I ever let her inside and found that she was full of fleas (which she did not have prior to). If you want your dog to come home full of fleas and smelling like urine then take them to Fondren 5 Star Pet "Resort".
