Okay, I hated the coffee but I might go back. Here’s why. Their morning-shift barista is another-level nice. I engaged in a conversation with him, shared that I was new in the area, and on and on. He got me a bag of beans as a welcome gift to the area. That absolutely made my day! Now coffee. I ordered cappuccino. I didn’t like the taste of the beans. Not ordering coffee again. There was plenty of sitting place, which was nice. I could grab a tall table and work for a foxhole hours. The WiFi didn’t connect successfully, but I didn’t bother to ask them what the case was. I believe they have good food, because people seemed to go there for food and everything smelled super good. I appreciate it when people are kind and empathic; makes me feel human again. We need more of it.
Popped into Fonte today just to grab a quick coffee and was welcomed by the loveliest barista! They offer some amazing flavors they’ve crafted themselves. He was kind enough to treat me to something from their bakery since it was my first visit to the cafe, which was absolutely delightful and such a thoughtful gesture. The Turkish tea was bursting with cardamom—a truly outstanding flavor and easily one of the best I've enjoyed in the city.
The place looked shiny and hip, which initially drew us in. Their online photos were quite appealing. However, our experience quickly soured due to staff hygiene issues. One of the workers, who appeared to be unwell, was making muffins and continuously wiped his nose with his arm. This raised serious concerns about the cleanliness of the food preparation process. Despite its fancy presentation, the food at Fonte Coffee was a letdown. It seemed like everything was just masked with excessive sugar and grease. The dishes felt pre-made and lacked any fresh or authentic taste, giving the impression of being hastily microwaved before being served in a fancy box. The overall experience was underwhelming. The modern and stylish appearance of the place and their attractive photos might draw you in, but the reality is a stark contrast. The lack of attention to hygiene and the poor quality of food overshadowed any aesthetic appeal I would not recommend Fonte Coffee. Their focus seems to be more on appearance rather than the quality and safety of their food. The experience was disappointing and not worth a repeat visit.
For the prices--which are high--I expected better. Service was friendly, and there was no queue at 9 a.m. on a weekday morning, which should've told me something. The store is clean and gleaming with chrome. But for $6 for a 16-oz mocha, I was expecting to taste rich, velvety, dark roasted coffee, and...it just wasn't. The coffee was somewhat weak and tea-like. The thing I cannot get past, though, is the $7 croissant. Not a typo. Seven. Dollars. I ordered a croissant without checking the price first, and I still regret it. $7 is what they might charge for a croissant in the JFK airport. For $7, that croissant should've been buttery, warm, and unforgettable. It should've been a quick trip to Paris, not a quick trip to Tacoma. It was nearly flavorless, and hard and dried out. I might be willing to pay $13 for coffee and a croissant before tax and tip once in a while if the coffee and croissant were excellent. But they're just not. Skip it.
All the food was premade- just reheated soggy, greasy sandwich. Hot chocolate was more like a cold coco that was way too sugary. Service was good up front but watching the "chief" wiping his nose every minute in the kitchen was off putting... Would not recommend. Will not return ever again.
I wandered into Fonté today and had a wonderful experience! The barista, Steve, was super friendly, the vibe was fun and the music was rad! He made a perfect Caffe Breve even though it was slammed with customers and did it all with a smile. With so many coffee shops to choose from in Seattle, I'm glad I found Fonté. I'll definitely be back!
After wishing good morning, ordering a coffee, I noticed a fly on a pastry. I mentioned it to the employee, and she said to me “what do you want me to do about it? Do you want me to ask it to fly away?” I canceled my order, employee training on hygiene is not a priority. If they don’t have a protocol to deal with issues on their front-display food, imagine the hygiene practices going on behind-the-scenes. Regardless they should have offered a proper response, either that it is considered safe, or remove the fly. But sarcastic responses to a concerned customer aren’t the right way.
It's more of a fast-food place than an actual coffee shop/cafe. Everything is premade and reheated. Would NOT recommend if you want good food or good coffee.Food: 1/5
Fantastic customer service! Ray is always on top of orders, whether it’s an online order or in person, the service is always consistent, quick, and friendly. And the lattes are delicious! I recommend the cinnamon maple latte & Turkish coffee latte. Thanks!Service: 5/5
