I am lucky enough to live a few hundred yards from this spot, so I can definitely report on the world-class beauty that can be found here. The Russian River, and these local beaches are a popular destination of many folks from all over the world looking for a cool spot to go swimming while taking in the sublime beauty that is Sonoma County. Many adults and children alike make yearly visits that become lifelong memories, following a tradition that has gone back for more than 100 years, when families from San Francisco would pack up for the  summer and take a train (no longer running) out here to stay in the summer cabins many of them owned.

Parking can be difficult, and pay attention to the no parking signs or you car might not be there when you get back. Only one access point to the beach that we saw. At the beach they have free loaner life jackets for kids and adults. The beach is apparently a popular lunch spot for people floating down the river. We had several very large groups stop for lunch with their canoes. Lots of dogs running amok, water fights with big squirt guns, and competing music. Alcohol is not allowed, but we saw a few sneaking a beer or two. Water was a perfect temp, and the current was not strong at all.

Good fishing when you can does fill quick like most beach's in Sonoma but yes it does fill with the drinking youth and all that comes with them. Go north for the old river feel lost here in the Russian river area go north to Eel river or Navarro

Too many rude, vulgar, nasty college kids that ruin the whole experience. NOT a family-friendly place.
