RACHEL THORNE We also buried my father in Fort Custer and went thought the same thing with that rude Bastard by the name of Charles. When the service was over he told us to leave the cemetery in a tone that scared my daughters and that led to a very hard time to get them to go to my mother’s services. And once again the man named Charles told us to get out of his cemetery and I told him I wasn’t leaving just yet and he should move away from us, He said shut though brats up and get out of my cemetery. My daughters were so scared that they begged me to leave. I will never set foot back in that cemetery again.

The cemetery is beautifully cared for, and I know most of the people who work there are compassionate & care a great deal about what they do. But when we buried my husband's grandfather a couple years ago, the person who met us was rude and rushed us through the service even though there were no services after us. We asked our funeral director about him and she said although this person, Charles, was crude and not very bright, and they've had numerous problems with him in the past, the person in charge of the cemetery can't fire him because he is a veteran. Unfortunately, we would see him again. When my daughter's 12 y/o friend passed away recently, he was again running things at Fort Custer. When the service ended, we saw him yelling at another employee and then stormed off saying "F**K IT!" My daughter and I were only a few feet away, and so was the girl's coffin. Who does that? Let alone a person who is working there?

At first the place was great to have my mother buried in. Then the wreathes that were made by hand for her grave started to disappear. It was reported to the director who did not seem to care what was happening. In total 6 wreathes have disappeared from this cemetery. I found what is happening to the wreathes that are supposed to be put down where the old flowers are so that if you want your stuff back you can go and claim it. Well it appears that the cemetery has a new resting spot for the wreathes and it is called a dumpster. I found the wreath for my mother in a big yellow dumpster along with hundreds of other wreathes. It seems to me that a national cemetery should have more consideration for the people who also served this country by sacrificing time with their loved ones while they defended this country. I will be reporting this higher up the chain.

My father-in-law is laid to rest here. The grounds are well kept. They have a nice easy system for finding sites. We have encountered deer before while visiting. It's a nice day trip when the hubby wants to go see dad.

Wonderful final resting place for veterans and in some cases I noticed spouses are also granted a burial with their spouses.
