A smaller state park, but lovely and interesting. Nice local flavor. There are gravel paths, and should be accessible for most. Free parking, can  buy a day pass. From what i saw there are also good camp grounds. Near shopping and major roads, but with a remote feel for vacation ambiance.

Great park for a day trip - lots of bike trails, a lake to go fishing or kayaking in, a river to swim in, miles of beach to explore, and a historic fort to visit. Loved seeing bald eagles soar above us! We went tent camping and would probably not come back to this campground again, though. It's a big, crowded campground and the camp sites are pretty close together with little privacy (at least compared to other state parks on the OR cost we've visited). Most people have campers and RVs, and maybe that's because of the SWARMS of mosquitoes that made it difficult to enjoy ourselves. The only escape was at the beach. Come prepared!

South Jetty. It's our place to go when we visit Astoria. No other place like it. Convergence of Pacific Ocean and the mighty Columbia. I think of here when seeking self calm. It is so full of sound and fury that my troubles seem so small. Live. Love. Sigh. Ocean is gigantic. I am small. Trip to South Jetty brings all into perspective. Mind carries memory. Breathe deep the salty spray. Sun or gray day. Trip here makes my troubles fade away.

This place offers so many activities ! From a shipwreck on the beach to old time bunkers to many bike and hike paths.  Definitely a must visit.  Great camping spots and friendly staff.  Has a town close by if you need supplies or forgot something.

We were here for the day. We explored the shipwreck,  the military museum and surroundings,  and truly enjoyed ourselves.  We can't wait to come back again and try out the campgrounds.  Gorgeous!
