Where else can giraffes gallop up to your car for a bite to eat. Though this is more than just feeding giraffes, it is a wonderful place to learn about animals and have a front row seat to see all types of wildlife, even those near extinction. And that is the admirable purpose of this wildlife center, the reintroduce endangered species to the wild. We took the tour bus which was well worth the price of admission. Our charismatic guide was there to tell us about the animals, the history of Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, and the good they do in reintroducing animals to the wild. It's quite amazing to have this place near Dallas. Fossil Rim is one of those places that make you wish Yelp had 6 stars to give out. It is perfect for families (I know we had a blast) and we'll definitely be coming back!

Our family vacation in glen rose included a trip to fossil rim. The kids enjoyed seeing all the animals while sitting in the bed of the truck. Feeding the giraffes was by far the highlight but is not a guaranteed part (sometimes the giraffes are not close to the road). Total round trip is probably about 45 minutes plus however long you choose to spend at the half way point (gift shop and small petting zoo).

The Fossil Rim Wildlife Center is a great place to spend the afternoon enjoying the animal kingdom and food with the family. And yes, they have a gift shop too. Admission is a bit pricey at around 20 bucks a person but the buildings and grounds are pretty well kept and there are a good number of animals to feed and enjoy. The staff was reasonably friendly during my limited interactions with them. The rules of the park state that you cannot hand feed anything except for the giraffes, but many people take the safety of their fingers into their own hands. I too flaunted my phalanges in the face of fate and regretted it only once. Those ostriches are no joke, dispute what every cartoon you've ever seen says to the contrary. The rest of the animals where pretty friendly, if not eager to be petted like a giant horned labrador. The rams and giraffes were particularly impressive. All in all a great way to spend three hours.

Love this place!! Cost a bit but worth a visit. Was not able to feed the giraffes due to the texas humidity. FYI to see the wolves you have to do the behind-the-scenes tour. Gift shop was nice. The kid at the counter was a @$$#! But the lady that helped us buy our jewelry was very cool. I will definitely come back. Best to visit in the spring.

We have been to natural bridge in San Antonio and expected some what of the same experience, Wrong! The price was ridiculously high. They charge per person ( there was 7 of us )instead of by car and only give a small less than half bag of food. Most of the animals was deer and what little bit of the others was way off. If it wasn't for the hour drive there and the kids wanting to go on we would have just turned around. The only good thing of the whole experience was we did get to feed the giraffe for a min or two. We have also been to the one in Jacksonville and it's a lot better. Will not be back here
