Dr. Darin Cherniwchan is a Family Physician who is recognized internationally for his work in the field of Travel Medicine.
He has been working as a physician in Abbotsford (ARHCC) and in Chilliwack (CGH) for the past 24 years, since 1991.
His clinical work focuses on:
• Pre- and post- travel health (Medical Director, Fraser Valley Travel Clinic)
• Palliative Care (ARHCC Tertiary Palliative Care Unit)
• Occupational Health (Corporate Medical Director, Vertex Professional Services, Kitimat LNG Project for Chevron)
• TB screening and TB management (Collaboration with the Office of the Medical Health Officer, Fraser Health Authority)
He is both a pharmacist (UBC Grad 1987) and physician (McGill Grad 1991).
He is Certified in the Field of Travel Medicine (ISTM, New York City, 2003) and sits on several National and International Steering Committees and Boards in the areas of travel medicine, wilderness medicine, prehospital emergency care, wilderness EMS, and immunization.
He has recently finished a post with Judicial Council, Office of the Chief Judge, Province of BC and now sits as medical liaison for the Chief Judge.
He currently, by appointment of the Minister of Health, sits as a Board Member of the Drug Benefit Council of BC.
He is a Director of the Chilliwack Children's Foundation.
He is a Board Member of the Chilliwack Policing Society.
He is a proud Rotarian, father of four, and husband of one!
