Fred’s is fantastic and a definite must if you are in Butte! Excellent, relaxing, casual place for lunch or dinner. The food was just as wonderful as a service. They have both inside and outside covered seating. Large food selection on the menus, and you can watch your food being prepared as it’s an open kitchen. Many of the ingredients and meats are sourced from Montana. They have a very solid draft beer selection and full bar. There are several large screen TVs in the bar area if you want to watch whatever games are going on. Very relaxed atmosphere for small or large parties. Very welcoming for families and kids. Sorry I neglected to take a picture of my food, but I was so hungry, and it was so good! My burger was so large I couldn’t even finish it all. It was cooked perfectly and served on fresh ciabatta roll. It was one of the best tasting burgers that I’ve had in months. The cook even came over and asked if everything was prepared correctly. ** As of the date of this review, they do have reduced hours due to Covid, so It may be advisable to call ahead first **
I arrived 30 minutes before closing. I honestly don't know what to expect. I was traveling across the country and stopped in Butte for the evening. After I checked into my hotel I decided to drive around and check out the vibe of the city. Oddly everything closed early for a Saturday night. I was seated quickly and I was greeted promptly by my server. I found the menu to be just about right not to much or to limited. Prices were a tad higher than I expected, but not out of line. I ordered a beer and the pork chop and ribs combo with a side of onion ring. I asked if they were made fresh or frozen and she said the onion rings were freshly made to order. My food arrived promptly and it was prepared very well. Nice flavor and the pork chop was not over cooked with the right amount of flavor. The onion rings were top notch. I must admit that the presentation was a bit weird. Each plate had a yellow pepper and 2 black olives. My grilled bread was under the meat. It was very odd. Sever checked back several times. I ordered two beers the combo and tiramisu for dessert. My bill was $34.00 plus my $8.00 tip. I've had worse food and service that I paid a lot more for.
Dinner there with the wife for our anniversary. Service was amazing. Seated super fast but we were early for dinner. Ribs fell off the bone. Wife's steak kabobs melted in her mouth. Wilcoxins ice cream was awesome desert. Total 10 in my book. Eat here everytime I'm in town for business.
If I could give them 7 stars I would. This has to be one of the best places to get steak in Montana and I have lived in this state my whole life. The manager came out to see how our food was, and honestly the food is amazing. Service is friendly as well. Honestly, we will become regulars.
Delicious fall-off-the-bone ribs with some of the best onion rings I've had! Great outdoor seating
Another home run!! We went to Fred's last night and got really lucky our wait was estimated at 30 minutes, but we were seated within 10 minutes. The waiter was quick and personable and when he came to get the drinks order we told him we were ready and he took our order. Minutes later he returned with our heavenly garlic fries. Hot and crispy and delicious. Before we were done w/our fries our side salads arrived and we enjoyed them thoroughly, it is so nice to get a salad with fresh chopped veggies not prepackaged and not just iceberg lettuce and julienne carrots. The best part were the rib eyes seasoned and grilled to perfection on wonderfully toasted ciabatta bread. How yummy. Easily my favorite place to eat in MT and very much worth the drive from Helena.
Kabobs and salads are great. There onion rings are amazing! Service good, atmosphere good.
We waited over an hour for our food. We were seated outside and it was freezing. Of course we were in a storm. No music like indoors which was a bummer. It was 3 of us and 1 drink was ordered. It was over a hundred which wouldn't have been bad but the service is really lacking. We would ask for things like sugar for example. We waited 30 mins and has another server bring it to us. I don't think they are used to being busy and coming from a larger city maybe our expectations for basic things like refills are is set to high. But we won't be returning to this restaurant to eat again. Parking: Parking is ridiculous.
Ate here during Folk Festival. It was busy but nothing too terrible. Everything was terrible. Waited almost 2 hours to get our food. Only got served drinks once. Food was all over cooked and cold. Worst experience any of us have ever had here. It was just sad how bad this restaurant has gotten. It used to be great. Hopefully they get things fixed!!!
With all the hope, I had to give it a try. Great atmosphere,a cute little place. Unfortunately the waitress was new and wasn't well trained, she brought out six glasses for our table, and a picture of water that only filled two glasses, it all went down hill from there. It took nearly 45 minutes to get our food, some of witch was over cooked. The calamari was good, the bar drinks not so much.
