So I paid Freshroots a visit today, and I must say I expected more. I ordered the Gouda Mac n Cheese and was disappointed. It tasted the way it looked to me. Like there was no effect put into it at all. Pasta was mussy like mash potatoes. Like they give me the last in the pan just to get rid of it. The salad was OK. I don't like watered-down dressing, and that's what it was for me. Made a puddle at the bottom of my salad. Im glad I added the Loaded Chicken Salad to it to get something to tie everything together. I mean, all in all, it was alright. I'll try again later. Maybe it was an off day. I just expected more from the way it's always crowded, that all.
ALERT ‼ DO NOT EAT HERE ‼ I’ve been living in Tallahassee for three years and this has to be one of the worst restaurants I’ve visited! I brought my family here to get salads while they were in town and our experience was no where near acceptable. To start, we walked in and no one greeted us and were immediately told they didn’t have chicken salad for our salads and we ordered two dirty chais. After ordering, I bussed my own table they weren’t busy and they brought out our salads they also messed up which had dressing on the side. When they brought out our coffees they told us we could get straws inside they forgot a shot of espresso. Instead of fixing our dirty chais they said that we have to go inside and pay for the extra espresso. When my mom gave her card for them to charge us for the espresso they forgot in the first place, the woman came back with two shots of espresso in to go sauce ramekins and charged us seven dollars for those alone. In total we spent 50 dollars for three mediocre salads each with around 3 bites of chicken. SAVE THE TROUBLE, DON’T DINE HERE!!!
Great spot for coffee and a sandwich, seating inside and out, clean, lots of parking, great staff... Definitely a must stop while in the neighborhood!Food: 5/5
Tallahassee Peeps . .. Do NOT sleep on FreshRoots down here on Mayhan Dr. Quick service, GREAT food and way, way reasonable prices.. my Turkey Club was amazing. Generous serving of turkey breast, b, l & t, garlic aoli, toasted soft rye?? Boom! The chicken salad salad was large and filled with fresh veggies and a great onion house dressing. Everything is made fresh, with fresh ingredients and is made in house. Lots of Veggies options as well!
I tried this place twice. I ordered the Caesar salad and the chicken was super dry. The rest of the salad was good but they didn’t give enough Dressing, as the little cups were like half full. Wanted to give the place another shot and was more disappointed. My sourdough bread tastes like cheap white bread, and my sandwich was so bad I threw half away. A co-worker ordered the Mac and yikes. Like super thick sauce and rich but not flavorful. We passed it around the office and no one liked it. The prices on the website do not match what they actually charge. I would not recommend :/
This is my absolute favorite place to get a light lunch and my all time favorite salad - the Black & Blue Caesar. I’ve never had a better tasting salad. The dressing is creamy and the Gorgonzola is delicious. When I go with my friend she always gets the Loaded Chicken Salad Salad and it’s almost just as good. So fresh and flavorful. We decided to share a melt the last time we went and each had half of a Horsey Melt, it was so good! Very soft and cheesy with plenty of meat. I will always recommend this place to everyone!
When I get blood work done I always smell something amazing. I’ve been wanting to try this place for quite some time. I decided to give it a try. I ordered the caprese melt and it was delicious. Everyone in there was friendly and smiling. There are many options on the menu. I can’t wait to try another sandwhich!Food: 5/5
The last time I went to Freshroots Kitchen was probably like 8-10 years ago. And then I accidentally never went back, mainly because that's not my normal side of town. However, my 5-year-old requested a cute cafe for breakfast on our day together during spring break, so we ended up here, and I absolutely LOVED it. She got a bacon, egg & cheese sandwich, and she loved it, but it was so big she could only eat half. We saved the other half and she had it for lunch. I got the avocado, egg & cheese with the bacon jam, and WOW. Literally, the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had. The bacon jam was phenomenal, with just a tiny kick to it. My only wish was for more avocado it was just one small slice per half, and that they would have mashed & spread it out which I did end up doing myself. Still incredible though. I will make sure not to wait so long to go back again in the future!
Cute restaurant in a surprising location. In the end of the plaza that is filled with medical offices, there is The Freshroots Kitchen. They offer creative sandwiches and salads, coffee, and sides. Seating indoors and outdoors. After ordering our food at the counter, we choose to sit under the shade trees at the tables in the grass. Watch out for ants in a few spots. The food was ready in about 10 minutes. The Jammin' sandwhich with coleslaw. The Sweetie sandwhich with Gouda mac and cheese. The sweetie was definitely sweet almost like a dessert. The Jammin' was delicious with bacon jam, cheese, and jalapeños plus more!. If you are thinking about stopping here at the unassuming restaurant, I highly recommend that you do. The service was friendly and the food is amazing. Parking: Plenty of parking available Wheelchair accessibility: There is a ramp on the left side of the building.
I can in around 10:45 on a Tuesday. It was very quiet, and the place is tucked away. They had a sign saying they needed staff for both front and back of house and I could tell, but my service was great. A scrumptious little spot! I tried one of their sandwiches as well as their coffee of the week :
