Story

The Marshall Steam Museum features the world's largest collection of operating Stanley steam cars, a 1914 Ford Model T, a 1916 electric car, and two 1930s Packards, plus the 1/8-size Auburn Valley Railroad with two coal-fired steam locomotives and a diesel-style train as well as Lionel electric trains display and so much more.

Nestled in the small town of Yorklyn, Delaware, within Auburn Heights Preserve, the museum is operated by the Friends of Auburn Heights Preserve, Inc a 501(c)3 non-profit. Closed from December through March, the museum offers private tours, hosts Steamin' Day events (in which rides are offered in collection autos and trains, and has educational programs from April through November. Mission

The mission of the Friends of Auburn Heights Preserve is to educate the public firsthand about an American way of life that flourished at the dawn of the automotive age, preserve the technology of historic steam transportation, and serve as advocate for the Auburn Heights Preserve.

This is a fabulous place that everybody should visit at least once if not twice or more it is a serious look into the past as things were back at the turn of the last century from the steam cars to the steam train to the Mansion tours to the car rides it is real living history with a wonderful bunch of volunteers and staff that is willing to help an answer questions lots of surprise programs and visits from outside vendors who have products and services the likes of which you don't get to see in many other places their ice cream vendor is fabulous I recommend the steam oil ice cream

Wonderful old Dupont estate open to the public. Very well maintained, friendly staff and lovely grounds

Best collection of operational steam cars anywhere. Great steam trains in small scale, you can ride the train and numerous ca4s.

Lovely Gilded Age mansion until recently occupied by the descendants of the original builders. Donated to the state it now houses a large collection of steam powered cars. Not open all the time.
