Love love love this place. Innovation at its finest. The least boring restaurant in East county putting out crazy portions at affordable prices. So much good food it's hard to explain because the menu is so expansive. They also openly welcome menu customization. A REAL El Cajon City gem!

We we're told this was the best burger place, so we went. My husband and I both disagree with that statement, though. It was good, but not great. The atmosphere was good, and a fun vibe for families. It was like a diner. Service was good, and employees were friendly. We probably won't be back, though.

Funky Burgers is an El Cajon treasure.  With only two locations, they serve excellent burgers, hot dogs, a chicken sandwich, delicious fries (both regular and Sweet Potato) and offer Tater Tots, too!

The portions are generous, and sharing a combo will leave the average eater satisfied.  Getting an extra side of fries may be a good idea, though - only because you may not want to share them!

Funky Burgers also makes great milkshakes and sundaes.  I can't speak to the sundaes, because I can't get past the list of flavors of shake.

Beer lovers will appreciate a generous range of offerings on tap to enjoy with your burger.

I heartily recommend Funky Burgers and their friendly, welcoming crew.

I used to love funky fries but unfortunately it has be sold and is under new management according to a sign inside the store.  This explains why my to-go order took over 25 minutes  to complete. I watched my order sit ready to be called for over 7 minutes. Food was warm, no longer hot. Its really disappointing to see a great place become a 'meh' place.  It was fun while it lasted. Maybe Ill try again in a few months if they are still open. Good luck. PS. to the man of color,, i feel terrible for not remembering his name... hes the only one that seems to know what is going on...who also happens to make the BEST chocolate shakes. Thank you. I am so glad you are still there. Thank you so much for the bomb shakes I love you.

The food is dynamite. Very very tasty. I found it a bit distressing to see the server touching the trash can and then going back and handling the baskets with the food the bags she was putting the food into and the napkins without washing her hands. I said to her that the health department could shut them down if they saw her doing that. Her answer? "Well I wasn't touching the food". My answer to this  was  it doesn't matter. The health department can shut you down for even less than that. This answer was so juvenile that I had to talk to the manager. My personal health is important to me and if I were  the health inspector I would give them a B rating. Very disappointed. 1 star for the good food.
