Feels more like a private club than a church.  There's no sign on the church so you just have to know where to go.  There's no cross on the steeple, so hopefully it's a real church.  I don't know who's decision it was to make the building anonymous, but it seems like a stupid decision not to advertise the Lord's house.  Only church (or club) in America with no name.

I have to say I am probably the most introverted soul anyone could know and this church has lovingly cared for me and my family as though we are their family. I can call on my pastor and anyone in Gantt Street Baptist wether for prayer or a physical need and they are there without hesitation.
The preaching is clear, honest, all truth and meant encourage a closer more meaningful walk with God. 
I am a better mom, wife, and Christian because of my this church.

I got save by the grace of God in 1995 under preaching of The Rev. Gene Rowel at The Gantt Street Baptist Church.  To this day he remains my favorite preacher of all time.  I have a wife and 5 children a son-in-law a daughter-in-law and 3 grandchildren.  My Son and his wife don't live in the area.  However the rest of my family attends here.  My family and I have received exceptional bible instruction from this preacher and the men he has let preach from the pulpit.  I am glad to be saved and honored to call Gantt Street Baptist Church my home church and I am so thankful to have Gene Rowell as my preacher.

Wow!  Some of these reviewers have been going to this church since the 1800s.  Myself, I've only been going since the 1950s.  When the church first started back in the 50s, the pastor was on point every service, people were praising God, and it felt like a real church.  Then, Rowell came in and brought his juvenile, paranoid, divisive ways to the church, which has been present ever since.  We have had some really good people join the church and then leave after Gene ran them off with his divisiveness.  I've seen it multiple times and it is pathetic to say the least.  The deacons are on board with this mindset and anyone that wants to stay at the church long term.

I was looking for a church home and considered GSB until a former member/friend told me about the pastor who knew for more than a year and allowed his golfing buddy/former song leader to have an affair with a choir member before the pastor did anything about the problem.  How pathetic and hypocritical !   No thanks.  I get enough hypocrisy in the workplace.
