First time in Pittsburgh visiting family wanted authentic Italian and this place didn’t disappoint. Low key great food excellent service. Bree was awesome gave us personal attention and wrote down recommended places to experience post dinner. Will come back!
Garbarino's is a gem hidden in the center of East Liberty! First things first, make a reservation they have limited hours and seating. Second, plan ahead to find parking on the street. The food and atmosphere are wonderful. Garbarino's is relaxed and chic, serving refined rustic Italian with recipes that have been passed down through 4 generations. The dining experience had an immersive Italian feel with The Godfather: Part 2 playing silently on the tv above the bar and the music of Dean Martin and Johnny Mathis playing while we dined. The portions are huge! Believe me you will be bringing enough home for a second meal. The Italian Sangria was perfect. For appetizers we had the delicious greenz and beans and the meatballs in sauce tasted exactly like my Mom's!! We tried the Rigatoni Siciliano -which was spicy and saucy and the Rigatoni Ragu -which was rich and meaty. Both dishes were perfectly prepared. A cannoli and tiramisu were taken home to enjoy later -both were tasty. Garbarino's is a must try for Italian food.
Looking for a fancy Italian restaurant around Shadyside/East Liberty to take the family or a date? Maybe take out too. Garbarinos provides some delicious pastas and entrees to fill you up, and have plenty of leftovers.
Really impressed with Garbarino’s. Unassuming from the outside, it seemed too good to be true when I walked into the tastefully decorated restaurant with red checkered napkins, gold frames with old family photos hanging on the walls, and The Godfather playing on the bar’s TV. I wondered if the food would be as good as the environment, and it was. We took advantage of their restaurant week specials and shared the meatballs and greens & beans as appetizers, spaghetti bolognese and rigatoni & ragu for our entrees, and tiramisu and cannoli for dessert. The portions were huge, full of flavor, and absolutely delicious. Highly recommend!
Food was excellent. Greens and beans was in a NY style with sausage and some tomatoes. Rigatoni Siciliana was so flavorful with layers of sausage, banana peppers and then to smoked mozz. Chicken Parm is classic with the right flavor of tomatoes and Parm and mozz. Love the tiramisu, the marscapone holds the chocolate and lots of coffee flavor. The cannoli is wonderful, with chocolate chips at one end and chopped pistachios at the other and the filling is smooth and creamy with just right amount of sweetness.
We have been the this restaurant many times at this point and every single time it delivers. Home style sauce and homemade pasta cooked to perfection. Have eaten many different entrees and they are all amazing. I still can’t believe we just happened to randomly stumble upon this place during restaurant week and it is now a weekly staple for us. Outstanding service and you can tell the chefs truly care about the product they are putting out.
Rigatoni was very good ..pasta cooked perfectly and the irregularity of size drives home a handmade pasta. Portion size was gigantic almost to a fault... Talking 3-4 meals per pasta entre and I'm not exactly a small eater .. once again not a negative, next time I'll be sharing and getting some apps .. Unfortunately it's rare finding quality red sauce Italian-American restaurants..it seems olive garden and passing of the previous generations are doing a number on these places ..
Celebrated a family member’s birthday on our visit to Pittsburgh from California. What an absolute find! Food was plentiful & very delicious and service was spectacular! This restaurant offers full bar great service & amazing food. Make a reservation now
Picked up dinner to go tonight and it was incredibly good, best Italian I've had in Pittsburgh in a very long time. I had the rigatoni ragu and my husband had veal Parm. Veal Parm is an on the bone chop, huge! And so delicious. Sauce is excellent and portions are three days of dinners. Strongly recommend Garbarino's!
I’ve been to a lot of really good restaurants and I would say this is by far my favorite one. The atmosphere the food and the service is incredible. I recommend the veal parm and the Caprese salad / meatballs. This place is truly special
