The Garvies Point Welcome Center is a community resource meant to help local residents understand the details of the Garvies Point project.
On May 18, 2016, the Garvies Point Welcome Center opened its doors as a community resource to help residents of Glen Cove and the surrounding towns better understand the details of the Garvies Point project. The Welcome Center features a 20’ x 5’ scale model and interactive displays helping guests visualize the mixed-use plan — which will include 28 acres of public space with amenities like bike paths, a playground, an amphitheater, a new esplanade, 3 marinas, a dog park, retail space and restaurants, and 1,110 residential units — to restore 56 acres along the waterfront.
We understand that not every resident of Glen Cove will be able to visit the Welcome Center, but it is important to us that the information be accessible to everyone. This page will share educational information on the project, updates on events, and testimonials from those familiar with the economic, environmental, and cultural benefits that the Garvies Point development will provide for the city of Glen Cove.
Transformational projects of this scale will always spark dialogue. It is part of the process and helps make the final approved plan most reflective of the city’s vision for its own future. We want the new Garvies Point to be something that is worthy of the four administrations and two decades of effort and leadership that have made it possible. We very much look forward to working hand-in-hand with the city, as well as with the residents and businesses of Glen Cove, to make sure this project delivers on that legacy.
