When I left me old school to go to Gate City, I was so mad. All that I wanted to do was to go back. But, that was almost three years ago. During the two years that I was there, I felt like I had gone there for a reason. The day before school started I was camping up in the mountains with my family. When my mom put me on the waiting list, I was number 47. So, we didn't think that i would get in that year. But, we got a call telling us that I had made it in! So me and my family drove 2 hours to get to the school, to have a tour. Then we went and did panic before school shopping. The next day my father drove 45 minutes to get to the school. At first I didn't want to go there, and I wanted to leave. But then something changed. The very first person to talk to me, asked, "Why do you look so down?" And with those words we became friends. She lived in Merrimack, so she introduced me to some of her friends, who became mine too. Over the first year of being at Gate City I made lots of friends, and learned so much. But every story can't be perfect. The very first person to talk to me at that school, my best friend, was leaving the school at the end of the year. After that I went in to fifth grade then my mom took me out not even half way through the year. Leaving that school made me realize that being at that school was one of the only things in the whole world that could truly make me happy. So leaving it made a huge impact on my life. I went back to my old school, feeling like I was missing something. True happiness is very hard to come by so leaving that school it broke my heart. Now it is hard for me to listen to a song or look at a photo, that has to do with the school, and not cry. The thing that makes me the most sad, is that when I was in the fifth grade, I had a lot a fights with my friends, as we all do. And we would always talk it out under the Crab-Apple tree. So when I heard that they were removing them I couldn't help but cry. I miss my friends, teachers and the whole school. So, I would like to thank my mother for letting me go to that school and the school for letting me join. Oh! And Kath Palmer I went to school with your daughter, she was any amazing student and wonderful friend. And no matter what you say or what anyone says, Gate City Charter School for the Arts is the most fantastic school that you will ever find.

I have three children at GCCSA and they love the school as much as I do. My children are not forced into a mold; rather they are given the opportunity to be themselves. Their creativity is nurtured and encouraged. I couldn't ask for better teachers. The administration has taken the time to help address one of my children's struggles. They are kind and considerate in dealing with her needs. My children are getting a top notch education and I could not ask for a better learning experience.

We travel 25 minutes daily to bring our kids to this school and are extremely pleased with the commitment from the staff to their education. My children are happy, they are learning, and have wonderful relationships with their peers and the staff. My kids are being challenged academically, which is important to us, coming from Manchester School District, where that just wasn't possible. The commute is not for everyone and the small school size is also not for everyone. But it is a great alternative for our family and we are very happy with it!

Gate City Charter School for the Arts has provided my family the opportunity to attend a school of community, kindness, respect and academic challenges while studying the arts and not losing site of children’s imagination and creativity. We have been traveling 25 minutes (a lot of days longer with traffic) each morning to get to GCCSA for over a year now. I feel it is well worth the travel to come to a school that offers my children the ability to find and excel with their strengths and challenges them to overcome their weaknesses. This school provides an environment that allows teachers to teach to each student’s strengths and moves them academically to keep them engaged as opposed to standard testing and teaching to the lower middle and bottom of the class only. My children are happy to go to school each morning and see what adventure is in store for their classroom. They feel valued by the teachers and staff at GCCSA who are helping to shape them into amazing individuals.

My daughter went here, but begged me to let her leave for middle school. It lacks leadership, good teaching skills, and authority. Everything she did was too easy for her, and she dealt with bullies, and annoying kids everyday. I didn't approve of the no playground and barely any important lessons there. The teachers we ok, but all in all she had a horrible time, and is now going to Elm street middle school and is having a great time! The learning is top of the line, and I've really seen her progress! And she loves all the after school programs! I love how high tech it is, and I love how great the food is, and I love seeing her happy in school for once. This is completely my opinion, so please don't hate on it. I hope your kids have a better time there. But for Middle school, Elm Street it top of the line! Now that I've made my point, I will be leaving. Oh yea, my daughter wanted me to write this... GO EAGLES!
