CHRUCH OF CHRIST GOERS STAY AWAY!!!! They need to take the Church of Christ sign down. As much as I hate leaving this one star review. It is well deserved. The people here are great, however. My family and I have been coming to this church for years. We live in the Midland/Odessa area, and have come to gateway for many times during our family vacations. However this time it was much different. My family and I were shocked to find that they were playing instrumental music during worship. I can’t believe a church of Christ would change one of the core things it was founded on. Me and many others I know from Texas will never be back here. It is a shame they are trying to cater to everyone else in the world instead of people who have been attending the Church of Christ for their whole lives.

I was called to this church for some reason. I just moved to Ruidoso from El Paso, for now, at least temporarily. I had noticed, drove by and walked by this church in the past couple of weeks but didn't stop by because I let life get in the way. I was running about 10 minutes late this Sunday and walked through double doors looking for a place to sit because it happened to be filled up on all sides. I ended up sitting at the very rear row behind the sound man after having asked a couple of guys that had a small space between them. We introduced ourselves and one of them asked a little about me and welcomed me to the church. A few moments later he encouraged me and welcome me to be part of the church for as long as I planned to stay in town. Moments later, he got up, we wished each other a good day and he called me "brother" which is something I like to do as well. I felt it was endearing, especially given the setting. He walked towards the front and I continued to praise and worship and pray along with the congregation. John, is the name of the man who had been sitting next to me. To my surprise, and perhaps coincidentally, he is also the man who is the pastor or preaching minister, whom delivered the message. His delivery of the message was concise, succinct, insightful, and charismatic. I genuinely enjoyed the message and my overall experience on my visit. I encourage anyone to take an opportunity to visit this church if you wish to grow closer to Christ.

This church leads in ways each United States church should follow and Ruidoso, in general, leads a unique, pure, and good flavor as each Christian church (Baptist, Methodist, Non-Denominational, etc) takes time to worship, together, and members move from church to church, leaning on each other. The Gateway Church of Christ reaches as far as Texas and Oklahoma, demonstrating leadership to huge churches, quite often, and grows teenagers of character.
