One of the counselors Shannon was doing well with my husband. He worked with him for over a year and then out of the blue made a 360 and was not understanding anything he had to say. My husband was unable to attend one meeting due to work. He could not leave without another person coming to relieve him. He called his counselor, he didn't pick up and he left a message. He didn't get a call back. Another week the weather was horrible and traffic was backed up. He called his counselor again and left a message that he'd be running a couple of minutes late. Guess what the counselor did??? He told him he had to start over a year worth of work because he was not showing up and he was coming in late!!! All these factors that made my husband late and not able to show up for only two sessions were beyond his control. And then people wonder how people stay in this cycle and relapse, it's because of the counselors. I swear they try to keep people in their programs. It was a demotivation factor for my husband. He really wanted to quit. Because how could a person base unforeseen circumstances on a year worth of work???? I truly was infuriated by the conduct of this counselor. I hope he does not do the same to a person who doesn't have a support system to help him through. I'm sure if my husband had no one he would have given up and who knows what kind of trouble that would get him just because of one person who doesn't take people's circumstances into consideration.
