I travel to Chicago often and usually get food from here at least once each time. The food is really good, however the service was poor this time. I ordered $69 worth of food that I went to pick up. I asked the bartender (who has the food) if I could have 4 disposable plates with utensils. He said that they only give 2 sets! Then when I said that I ordered for at least 3-4 pp,l and that I had never heard of such a thing, and that he could keep his 2 disposable plates and utensils (as I would just get them from my hotel) he said he would give me 4 plates. He had attitude and this is unacceptable. This is the reason for my 2 stars. EVERYONE should learn about customer satisfaction.

Excellent buffet with lots of options including vegetarian. The place has a quiet laid-back atmosphere and is kind of dark. The food is very good. Not terribly expensive considering its location and no parking.

I have been to quite a few Indian restaurants in Chicago, and I have my favorites. This restaurant topped my past favorites in quality and taste. The service was excellent. I wish I could give another star for how fast we got the bill and paid it. I will definitely be going back very soon!

For Father's day I wanted to take my Husband out for Indian food. I've been coming to Gaylord since the 1st Location on Clark st, but I haven't gone in years. I Google the Location & to my surprise I saw a lot of reviews from recent visits that were rated horribly. So I called. I spoke with Mr. Pasawala himself & expressed to him that I saw all of the bad reviews. He simply told me not to believe them. He said that all kinds of people- including other Indian business owners will post anything to gain more Customers. I trusted what he said & went today with another couple. THE FOOD WAS AMAZINGLY AWESOME!!!!! THE SERVER & SERVICE WERE EXTREMELY PROFESSIONAL! If you're like me, you know that Good reviews are what makes a business thrive. The bad ones almost kept me away. Overall I'm glad I followed my heart & my stomach 😊 THANK YOU ALL FOR A TERRIFIC FATHER'S DAY DINNER🙏

Nothing can make up for poor service. This place has decent vegetarian curries, but dry and burnt naan, and charges a hefty service fee for any group 5 and over. Unlike Indian Garden, this restaurant does not give you menus that clarify these additional costs or tell you of the fees beforehand. One of the ladies in our group has a gluten allergy. She had to wait almost 10 minutes for someone to tell her what food did not contain wheat when the restaurant was barely filled at 11:45 AM. At the end of the meal, we asked for a Northwestern discount, which they declined, when their website stated otherwise and we had called to confirm days earlier. This wasn't a big deal. The most disappointing aspect was when we asked to pay individually, the waiter patronized our group of ladies by saying "you don't seem to understand what I'm saying, we can't split the check for your group in our system." When asked why they couldn't treat us as individual customers, the waiter continued to rudely speak to us as if we were dimwitted. The waiter finally went to find the manager after turning around with an exasperated expression on his face. In the end, the manager came over and agreed to let us pay individually, but charged us a hefty service fee. None in our group will be coming back. We also will not be recommending this restaurant to any of our Northwestern colleagues for personal or university business. There are so many great places that offer better food, and more importantly, better service. Overall, a somewhat traumatizing dinning experience on what should have been a great lunch gathering of work colleagues on the Friday before a beautiful weekend.
