The best gelato place I've been in New York City. As good as the best places in Italy, expensive but in line with other high quality places in Manhattan.Food: 5/5
The coffee granita was unfortunately the worst $10 I have ever spent. The product was all frozen to the bottom so the employees ran the vessel under hot water to get the remnants out which resulted in it being half melted and half large chunks of ice. The recipe is also terrible. It is essentially a very bitter black espresso over shaved ice. The worst part is that is a standard serving for a dessert but a massive serving of espresso. The entire cup is probably equivalent to 8 shots of espresso. I shared it with my fiancé and both of our hearts were racing. The shop is very pretty inside and they have a selection of gelatos and pastries.
We decided to indulge in some dessert at Gentile and were pleasantly surprised by the exceptional quality of their gelatos. I couldn't resist trying the frutto di Bosco and salted caramel flavors, and let me assure you, they were truly some of the best ice creams I've ever tasted. The flavors were rich, smooth, and incredibly satisfying. I wholeheartedly recommend giving Gentile a visit to experience these delightful gelatos for yourself. It's definitely worth it.
Small but authentic gelataria in the middle of New York. They rotate some of their flavors every few months, but the core flavors are constant. I got the pistacchio and caffè flavors, both of which were the delicious. The pistacchio was definitely one of the best pistacchio gelatos I've tasted outside of Italy. I also tried the melannurca, which is an apple liquer. They also had granitas and brioche on offer, but I didn't get around to trying those.
The gelatos are pretty solid. Though they can do better with their waffle cone. The place has so many other pastries I would be keen to try. Worth a visit!Food: 3/5
We used to come to this location almost every weekend with our 8 yr old son. The flavors used to be interesting compared to Amorino across the street. However, they don’t rotate their flavors as much as they used to, and when it’s hot out, their gelato that they scoop out of the fridge is almost melting. Their service has gone downhill too. One of the staff did not provide us with proper amount of gelato when I ordered 2 flavors in a small cup. The first flavor was covered flat on the small cup, but the second flavor barely covered the top of the first flavor. I told her the portion of each flavor was not 50/50. It was more 80/20. She just said “that’s how it is”. Horrible answer and service. Mind you we have been coming to this location for at least 2 yrs. Avoid coming here and spend your money elsewhere.
Great refreshing gelato and sorbet 15 flavors at least with 3 vegan, decent portions and prices $7.50 for 3 scoops, friendly staff and lot of pastry, dessert banofee is highly recommended and beverage options. They let you sample two flavors. Strongly recommend. We had 6 flavors in total and our favorite ones in order were the melancura apple sorbet refreshing and delicious, dark chocolate sorbet and the salted caramel . The remaining three of mango, crema antica and sour cherry were also very good. The dessert options are also worth exploring, especially when it's a bit chilly outside.
My favorite gelato spot in town opens up next to one of my favorite pizza place? Who's saying that NYC is dead? This is heaven! Anyways, Gentile is the best and their quality is consistent. That's why it is not a secret anymore and they're expanding. Do yourself a favour and try the Zabaione. Btw, why are you guys carrying croissants but then open at 10:30AM, way to late for breakfast!
Very slick and clean place that has crepes and croissants. They detail all the ingredients and whether they might trigger allergies or affect those with vegan or dairy restrictions. Salted caramel was tasty though the vanilla was relatively bland and could have had more flavor. Good quality but would like to see some more “verve.”
Gelateria Gentile remains my top gelato/ice cream spot in NYC. Tried their seasonal cherry flavor this time, and it was fantastic. Convenient location, perfect for a rest during city walks.Food: 5/5
