If you're missing the now-gone Mars Stores, a trip to Geresbeck's (Eastern Avenue) is a comfort. The prices bring me here along with a terrific deli department/staff (which sells Esskay products!). And the bakery (love those apple fritters) has a good array of fresh baked, store-made products. Weekly sale prices cover a variety of items and, while there may not be a wide selection from which to choose, it's enough to cover basics. The fresh meats department also has a varied display. A self-service check-out area was recently installed so that helps.

They have some very good deals but they are also really expensive on a lot of things as well. They employees that work here are very friendly and helpful, they are very nice as well. It is at a very convenient area with a bus stop right near, there is also a few different food places right in walking distance from the store, there is a phone store, there is a family dollar right across the parking lot there is a max ways right next to the family dollar, there is a cigarette depot store, a nail salon, a liquor store, a cleaners and a metro PCs authorized dealers store there as well. There is also a little snowball stand on the corner of the parking lot that has really good snow balls that are sooooo good me and my family always walk down there to go shopping and we will get us a snow ball on our walks home.

My go to store since Mars closed. Good deli deals and a decent bakery. Would give a 4.5 if that was possible, since the building itself is terrible outdated, but its not like im buying the store so I personally could care less. 5 stars it is.

Headline: Poor customer service is not effective loss-prevention. I once was a regular customer of this store, but no longer. On 3/7/18, I walked in on the way home from work, and I was asked to leave my backpack in a corner by the self checkout registers. I had never been asked to check my bag at Geresbeck's before, nor have I had to leave my bag in an unattended area at a grocery store before. (Normally, if store policy is to have customers check their bags, the store at the very least has a secure area to keep them.) The area I was directed to was quite literally a corner along the front of the store. I asked if this was a new policy at the customer service desk, and I was told that they had done this for years. If true, it had never been enforced before, and clearly, the store wasn't equipped to enforce it properly. I understand trying to minimize shoplifting, but if theft is that much of a problem in your store, why would I trust leaving my backpack in a corner by the door while I shopped? TL;DR: The store isn't worth the trouble, especially when there's a very good Weis three blocks away.

I love shopping at this grocery store not only is it convenient to my home but the people who works there are WONDERFUL.... I love the food and prices too.......😊🤗
