This is so small sushi place with only few tables set up, so don't expect to get in so easily! But the food is so good, the fish is so fresh and everything is authentic and of high quality. It's my favorite! If you order the sweet shrimp sushi you also get the head as tempura! Gyudon was a bit too big even if shared between 2 people but we also ordered many things so that might be more of the reason.
It was awful. It seems like the sushi chef was on vacation. Too much of everything see photo shows how thick the fish is and grotesque amount of real crab with Mayo. Sushi ought to be a delicate endeavor. This was sloppy and I just couldn’t eat it boohoo!Food: 1/5
This hole in the wall sushi spot is over the top. Don't come if you are on a tight budget. You will just be torturing yourself. Ankimo is sometimes on the menu. The fish selection is lovely. The Chirashi at $38 is worth every cent. There are only 6 tables and 5 bar seats. Don't be surprised if there is a wait. Take out won't disappoint but if you can stay for service the staff is very attentive.
Super delicious and affordable! I had always heard great things about this place, and now I know why. The sushi was huge and very affordable. The donburi was bomb. Even the little treat they leave with the bill was yummy. The place is small, but it’s lively and full of energy. I love a lot of sushi spots in the east bay, but this one might be near the top of the list!
I am extremely disappointed with the service at Geta. This restaurant has been our go-to Japanese place for a long time since it first opened. Even during the pandemic, we continued to support them by ordering food. Today, I walked into the restaurant and requested a table for two, explaining that my husband would be joining me shortly. The waitress rejected my request, stating that their policy doesn't allow it. I offered to order for two people since they were closing soon, but I was rejected again. I expressed my frustration, explaining that I would pay for the food, and my husband was on his way. Unfortunately, they remained inflexible and unfriendly. I even spoke to the owner, who shockingly suggested that if I didn't like their policy, I should not come back. This is not how a business should be run. It's an unfriendly attitude towards loyal customers. Despite the service, the quality of the food has also declined. This will be my last visit to Geta. The food and service have deteriorated significantly. I won't be returning or supporting them in the future.
This is my Japanese fix for a long time. A family style Japanese owned and operated by a Japanese family. The food is authentic. The service is on the spot. You only have too go now. And because of inflation, it gets expensive, the two of us is another $90, but the food quality is great. I wish I could dine in again once the Covid is gone.
I feel everything has gone downhill since chef Ono left. The food quality is not great anymore, but the price keeps increasing. Even my favorite chicken udon has completely changed, and the soup tastes cheap. The service is rushed and pushy. It's not the same getta anymore. I won't go back again.Food: 1/5
Stopped by this small authentic Japanese restaurant one night and I was so thrilled to have stumbled upon it. Amazing food and service! Mostly a to go spot with some table for diningFood: 5/5
Geta is delicious. Fish is fresh, unagi is bomb. Just please wait for your whole party to arrive instead of walking in and out one million times crying about a very clear and necessary policy letting all the cold air in and waft over my hot don buri.Food: 5/5
Still good but not as good as the first times. Dragon roll a little stale. The girl servers are delightful. I do take out. The young man was a bit confrontational. Ok. So it wasn't sweet potato fritter. It was sweet corn croquette. Boohoo. And it was cold anyway .Food: 4/5
