Wow. I was looking for a low key seafood place for lunch and ran across Gilligan's. Don't be put off by the appearance, this place has great and fresh food. We had the fish dinner and the crab cakes, and both were better than what we've had in much more expensive restaurants in the area. The back deck is also nice in how it overlooks the bay. It's rustic, but lends itself well to the fish camp atmosphere. It's not fancy, it's not pretentious, it's just really good seafood at a good price.
So much food!! I ordered the oysters and my mom got the crab cakes. Mom said it was the best crab cakes she's ever had! I like when there's not a ton of seasoning so you can actually taste the food and this place did it right. Nice views from the outside deck.
This place is a cute little dive with a waterside view. We dined on a Wednesday eve around 6pm. No one here when we arrived but started to get a bit busier. Food was OUTSTANDING. My sister and I could not get over the perfection in the fried oysters and fried shrimp dinners. It is difficult to fry seafood without over or under cooking and these folks have it hands down. Condiments were high quality, cocktail and tartar sauce, fresh Lemons. Jambalaya spiced perfectly. Staff were extremely accommodating...I think a Jamaican accent. If you want good seafood at a great price, generous portions, and aren't looking for some special gluten-free, organic, soy substitute, low carb, non-dairy, ethical food, this REAL WHOLE food is the place for your taste buds and your wallet with a seaside ambiance if you want it! There is inside seating too. ENJOY!
This place was absolutely empty on a Sunday when we trying our best to try and find something to eat. Everywhere else was super busy and packed, but this place had no wait at all. The food ordering process was very quick and the menu is pretty self explanatory. The guy taking our order was very polite and nice. However the food choice we got were not good but we did eat it because we were starving. The calamari was very rubbery and tasteless. My shrimp was very greasy and my husband did not enjoy his food. His red fish was just ok and beans a no go and red beans and rice absolute no. We would not recommend this place nor go back.
Gilligan's served large portions of food, plated very appealing, and very reasonable prices. Sitting outside on the patio was nice for the breeze and water view. The new waitress 1day was as nice, as one could hope for. That's were the positives stop. This is an old building and the inside diner had a strong odor from bleach or other cleaning agents. I showed the waitress/cashier a dead cockroach on floor entrance, near the counter- which she quickly removed and apologized forward. The patio floor had large gapping holes around the pipes which was unappealing to look at as you ate. The tea had a bitter taste with a slight hint of something strange like dish detergent. One of our two plates had to be sent back because the crab cakes entree were VERY heavy, lacking in crab meat, greasy, and poorly seasoned. Hush puppies were also greasy deep-fried too long and just like the potatoe salad, lacking in seasoning. Only homemade side dishes appeared to be the coleslaw and onion rings. To be so close to the ocean with "fresh catch" menu items, this establishment ranks only average as a seafood restaurant. Handicapped parking with entrance ramp strangely located on opposite end of parking lot.
It was not as many people there during the time me and my wife entered the establishment but was greeted by the waitress as we entered. We ordered our food and within 10 minutes after ordering our food was served up to us. Everything we had ordered was very Delicious . Features: I watched as a large party of around 8 people dined and left the establishment and one of the young employees went and wiped down the tables and chairs after they left. Kid-friendliness: They have a kid friendly menu to hopefully satisfy your kids hunger. Parking: They have more than enough parking for access.
The place was rustic nostalgic. Staff was really nice and patient. And the food was very delicious, filling, and you get a very nice portion. Will definitely come here again.
There is very nice Jamaican young woman waited on us, she told us about the food we wanted to get. Food was good and hot.
Order food at counter and sit. They deliver it to your table. Food was delicious and fairly quick to the table. Picnic table seating, both inside and out. Enjoy views of the water from patio dining.Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: YesTakeout: Yes
FYI: You order at the counter before sitting down. It took over 20 mins for our food to arrive. We each ordered a Fetuccini Alfredo and Ceasars Salad. We sat outside on the deck. I wish they would have served the salad while we waited for the F. Alfredo, but they were served at the same time...‍it is what it is. The food was DELICIOUS and worth the wait. Recommended.
