Our kids took us here as a Christmas present.Very neat place.. small and tucked away but very busy. We had great meals and good service. Nice atmosphere! Would go back.
The food here is deliciously authentic! All of the workers are kind and attentive. They’re also filled with charismatic features. At this restaurant it offers indoor and outdoor dining. I highly recommend that you check out their great menu with classic selections! You can’t go wrong.
Girasole is one of the most special spots in the burgh! They don't take reservations but you can put your name on the list so that they can get you a table quicker when you get there. They're closed on Mondays, and if you go you have to try the mussels, lamb & risotto, and tiramisu! The food is divine, service incredible, and the staff are so helpful and friendly. The atmosphere is warm & cozy. My dinner ended with a live acoustic performance by a local guitarist and the owner singing songs together. It was beautiful & we had the very best time!
It is on the sidewalk of a neighborhood. Once you step into the dining room, there is room for about 30 people. The atmosphere spills out onto the appealing garden terrace where you can eat outdoor. A fixture menu during all of their seasons, Linguine Rustic contains littleneck calms, spinach, breadcrumbs, garlic, and olive oil. I am not quite sure if I will have this again, not because it tastes bad but because I prefer linguine with tomato sauce. The other dish we had which I think is most known in this restaurant is squid ink linguine. I would say that it is pretty expensive but because they have included white wine, cream, shallot, and lobster. If you are visiting Girasole, I would recommend trying this out! Overall, my experience at Girasole was good and I will visit again for a delicious Italian food.
Great place where you can enjoy really good pasta, they were fast and attentive. Price is good, you should go early to get a table, too much people waiting. First come first serve.
I was really looking forward to trying Girasole. I ordered the pollo chicken special of the day which was amazing! Everything about this dish was perfect. I had an Italian Man cocktail as well which was also very good! However my partner ordered a Spritz with a penne pasta with chicken. Both of which weren't very great. The pasta I was very excited for, but it's nothing out of the ordinary of what you can make at home. The Spritz wasn't made well and tasted very bitter. I would come back here but the prices are too high and the wait for a table is quite long, even on weeknights.
The worst dining experience ever. 1 It took them at least 10 mins to bring us water while we were just sitting there eating cold bread. The waitress came by surrounding tables multiple times but just ignored us: Didn't make a big deal of it since we thought it's a busy Friday night. 2 They spilled the dressing all over the table while serving the salad WITHOUT any intention to clean the table for us. If we didn't ask, we would have to eat with that nasty table for the entire night. How pleasant is that! 3 The entrees came while we were still having our salad and soup. The waitress directly stacked the soup on the salad and wanted to take them away without even asking us. Then she realized those were unfinished and she removed the DIRTY soup bowl from my salad and asked: "do you still want it?" WOULD YOU EAT IT??? The food at this place was ok but what kind of service you'll get really depends :
You almost miss it walking by, it's down some steep steps. It feels like you're eating dinner in a cave - dark, loud and echoes. APPETIZER: Escarole & Beans with sausage $16 *this was a very generous portion and the escarole was slightly bitter but in a good way and the beans and sausage were the perfect hearty complement ENTREE: served with house salad or soup Squid Ink Linguine $25 Light cream sauce, lobster, shallots *very large portion of squid ink pasta, extremely heavy on shallot flavor, it was so strong that it overwhelmed the delicate lobster and I could only taste the shallots and the cream sauce was was very heavy, this dish is large enough to share between two people I appreciate the large portions and that you can bring your own wine.
1 You couldn’t hear anyone without yelling — the restaurant was so crowded, and there was no acoustic damping. 2 It took ages for anything to move forward; shows up 7pm and eventually finished everything around 8:40. 3 meatball penne had only two meatballs, and tasted like what you can get out of supermarket 4 Menu text was eroded and hard to read. 5 Table was wobbling, although they patched it with a wedge. 6 Waiters and waitresses were not as responsive… 7 they were out of half of the menu items. 8 bread was hard. 9 alcohol drinks were pricy.
I had an absolutely incredible experience! My waitress was very efficient and pleasant. The wine list was short, but tasteful. My cocoa fettuccine was delicious; it was flavorful, the vegetables fresh, not at all greasy or sticky, and the pasta was cooked to perfection. My friend and I got the tiramisu and chocolate mousse cake. Both were light and decadent and very generous helpings. The ambiance was very cozy and welcoming. Generally, I am not impressed with the Italian food I Pittsburgh, so this was such a welcome surprise! I will definitely be returning there soon!
