Mary Hartmann (loving sister of the comedian great Phil Hartman), shop proprietress and creator of Girl in the Curl, grew up surfing the shores of California living the surf life style. Past competitor turned surf instructor Mary decided to share her love of the ocean and her expertise of surfing. She created her “Swell Time Surf School” in 1987. Mary realized the boys wanted to jump in the surf as well with her so, "Boy in the Barrel" was born! Her store location in Dana Point, CA couldn’t be better, right on Pacific Coast Highway, near some of the best surf breaks in southern Calif. Mary is truly "The Surf Queen of Doheny"....
