I was very excited when I found out that the owner of the restaurant Vicolo's, which has now closed, opened up a new place! It is called Giulio's Restaurant and it is in Tappan, NY. It is a beautiful establishment best Italian food ever. The lovely Victorian house, the atmosphere, and the attention from the owner and staff can't be denied. I give the food a 10, I got salad rigatoni with vodka sauce—out of this world! I can only say I sincerely love everything about this restaurant and highly recommend you come and taste the delicious food for yourself. -Gale
Visited the restaurant with coworkers and had a set menu. The salad was like any salads from any other restaurants. We had penne vodka for our second course and it was good. We had a choice of veal Marsala, chicken parmigiana, eggplant parmigiana, or fillet of sole. Got the chicken parmigiana and it was served with mashed potatoes. That was strange and the chicken was dry. Dessert was a sliver of chocolate mousse cake. Service was very slow.
Visited as part of a luncheon last week and had a great time. Òur waiter was outstanding! I had a 3 lb Lobster stuffed with crab meat . The friend I came with had a tomahawk steak that I tasted and will order on my next visit, it tasted unbelievable. I can see myself becoming a regular here, I was that impressed!Food: 5/5
The original Guilio's was housed in a magnificent authentic Victorian mansion. The new operator has downgraded the decor...gone are the carpets, warm colors, tasteful artwork, seasonal decor. It's now an Italian restaurant in and old house. That said, the food was very good and the prices reasonable although the place is run with a lack of finesse: take out containers are stacked on mantles, dirty dishes are stacked on dining table, waiter took order and was never seen again, owner was abrupt to the point of being rude.... Will we return? Doubtful
We have been dining with Benny for many years. Benny is a great host and always provides an exceptional dining experience. Food is fresh and creative, service is friendly and quick. A great local spot. Wishing benny and his team a very happy, healthy and prosperous new year. Looking forward to our booked event; we know it will be great!!
We arrived and had to wait. Which I expected We we taken to our table and was told they had no menu's available. But they would bring us them as soon as they could. After about 10 minutes, we had to go and find someone to get menu's. A few minutes later they returned with menu holder with no menu's in them. After several more minutes we were handed menu's. At that time we ordered a bottle of house merlot, the server went to get the bottle while we looked at the menu. About 10 minutes later a different server asked if we were ready to order. We placed our orders. Several minutes later the first server returned and said they had no house merlot and asked if we wanted something different. We said yes but we need to see the wine list. He went and got the wine list. About 10 minutes later the server returned. We order a different bottle of wine, the server left to get the bottle. At this time our salads arrived. We finished our salads. The server returned and informed us that the wine list they provided was from the previous owners, and what we order was not available. Their wine list advertise numerous types of house wine. We request, but they were unavailable. They do not carry any of them. The server then said he would provide us with a suitable bottle of wine as a replacement at no additional charge. He then returned with an older bottle of wine. After pouring the wine into the glasses we noticed that the was a large amount of sediment stuck inside the bottle and floating in the wine, from 2013. We pointed this out to the server, and requested another bottle of wine. He returned with the wine list and we selected another wine. By this time our entrees had arrived. The second server removed the old bottle of wine and glasses, he also informed me that great wine are better with age. That maybe true for some wine, but I do not care for sediment floating in my wine. We are about halfway through our meal when the new bottle of wine arrived. We were never checked on during the meal to see if we needed anything. We never had our water glasses filled. We had to asked for dessert. The second server was very quick to give us the check, he never asked if we wanted anything else. He was also very quick to take the payment. That was the fast thing that happened during the whole meal. The first server was working very hard to do his job and provide service, but we feel management did not set him up for success. The second server seemed to be very unhappy with his job. We did not appreciate his sarcastic comments. This was our first visit to this restaurant. The food was very good, but the whole experience has left us with a bad impression. Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp
Absolutely incredible! It's a wholesome experience. The restaurant/mansion is homely, welcoming and simply quaint. A taste of fine dining in Tappan, NY. The hospitality and service gets an A+. I was 20 minutes late for my reservation and it was close to closing yet, the hostess waited for me with a smile and a warm Birthday wish. I felt as if they were waiting for my arrival. Treatment worthy of an elite. It was the most authentic reception. The food itself deserved an A++. This is a restaurant worthy of the drive since I traveled from Brooklyn. I recommend it over and over again. Go for it! Cheers All!
If you park on the side of the building, the bar entrance is the door closest to the south of the building. The main entrance is faces east. The place was decorated nicely for the holidays. We sat in a small room upstairs. The service was slow throughout the night despite being rather empty for New Year's Eve. The freshly baked rolls that were brought out were the highlight of the night. The calamari was not great. The buratta was good. My salmon entree was a special for NYE and didn't taste terrible but I think I was turned off by the presentation. Overall, overpriced for the service and quality of food, but very pretty building
It took almost 2 hours to get our food. I had to ask repeatedly if our food was almost ready. I was assured each time that it would be ready soon. It got to the point where i asked to have the food put into to go containers. Food was not worth the wait either. If you want quality food and service do yourself a favor and go up the street to Dimoras in Norwood.
Worst service I have ever had in a restaurant. Once we had our food, we never saw our waiter again. We had to find someone to order dessert and coffee. Dessert came and we finished it without receiving our coffee. We had to ask the woman clearing our plates for our coffee. Only 3 out of 5 of us received coffee. It took us 30 minutes to get our check and when we said something, the owner said we have 2 parties with an attitude. No apologies. We were there for 3 1/2 hours. Food was not worth the prices they charge. Only 2 of us liked their food. Would never go back. I gave it 2 stars because the desserts were good.
