Such an interesting fusion restaurant! There were Korean spirits, Chinatown breakfast burger, Thai inspired dishes, and Japanese katsu sandwiches. It’s definitely worth trying, but there is a long wait especially on the weekends. We put our name down at 12 on a Saturday and were given a table in about 1.5-2 hours. The famous pancakes were very fluffy and delicious but on the heavier side. Vegetarian options: There were quite a few vegetarian options and the menu was clearly marked.
I went to Golden Diner Saturday and let me tell you, I was not disappointed! Our server Orlando was amazing. Super kind, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. He gave some great suggestions definitely get the pancakes if you can!. He really made it a great experience for my first time. The wait can be a while, so if you can go early to put your name on the list definitely do that! Overall loved the food and the place. I will definitely be going again!
Made reservations two weeks in advance. Got there 30 minutes early but was seated immediately. I ordered the honey butter pancakes side of home fries, wife got the breakfast burrito. Both were very good, very filling. Also had fantastic mimosas. I would not wait over an hour like I’ve been told before when I didn’t make reservations but overall good experience and friendly staff. My boyfriend and I got the honey butter pancakes and the breakfast burrito with sausage. The pancakes were supper fluffy, soft, and light but the honey butter and slight lemon zest made it very flavorful. The burrito was also very good, many flavors that went well with another. Very worth the price it was a good portion but super filling. It was easy to get a reservation on a weekday, we were able to get a seat right away. The place is nice has an indoor and outdoor seating so totally recommend.
Great service, cute atmosphere, and of course THE PANCAKES. To me it was 1000% worth the hype, one of the best pancakes I have had. And the honey butter sauce was to die for. We also ordered the wings, which were very crispy but not a ton of meat. Not bad but would try something different next time if I wanted to add something savory to my pancake experience. And grabbing a reservation was perfect! I got one the day before for 2:30 the next day.
The food was decent I'm not a big fan of their pancakes because they were too sticky in the middle and it made me feel like maybe they were undercooked. I didn't like that. The Korean chicken wings were great with the sweet chili sauce. The tables are entirely too small and cannot accommodate any reasonable amount of food. The hostess and my server were so incredibly nice which is why I gave the amount of stars that I did.
We came here on a weekday so we were able to get a reservation. We got the omelette and of course the honey pancakes. The food was really good and the pancakes were super fluffy! The pancakes were huge and more than enough for 2 people. The place is very small and had a cute diner vibeFood: 5/5
Got here just before it opened on a Friday morning and there was already a line. There was no seating inside - reservations plus people in front of us in the line - but we got a seat at the counter which is always our preference anyway and could have had. Seat outside. Would recommend booking a table. I had the egg and cheese sandwich on a scallion bun the bun was just incredible ‍ while my husband had the omelette. Both of these were SO good - clearly excellent, quality ingredients put together and cooked so well. I’d heard so much about the pancakes that I had to have a single honey pancake and OH MY GOD!! The best pancakes I have ever had! Thick, sweet, buttery. Worth the visit alone. Superb service was the icing on the cake.
The interior is nice although a bit small, but the outdoor dining experience was insufferable —it's right under the train tracks, and every 5-10 minutes, it gets painfully loud. Forget trying to have a decent conversation without being cut off. On a hot day of 90°+, there was only a fan directly above your head that does not swing. It just blows in your eyes dries them out, and hair flies everywhere in your face. As for the food, it was a bit hit-or-miss. The pancakes were incredibly buttery and sweet—yes, fluffy and decent but definitely not “amazing” — it’s soaked in a pound of honey and butter and too heavy overall unless that’s your vibe. You might have come here after falling for TikTok videos, but they just taste like McDonald’s hotcakes, just thicker. Very compote that came with it tasted like it was from a can. I keep having to come back bc I have friends who want to try this place after seeing the video, but my advice is to find legit Japanese fluffy pancakes instead. The Thai salad arrived warm today which was off-putting, though the sauce was great as usual I’ve had the salad cold before as it should be and it was delicious. The Korean chicken wings reminded me of General Tso’s, while the egg sandwich was a bit dry and could have used some sauce. The matzo ball soup broth was way too salty. The burger was pretty basic, the katsu was actually quite moist, and the tuna melt had a little too much oil. I’d recommend skipping the vegan nachos and wedge salad mushroom bacon on top was way too salty. The service could’ve been more attentive; it feels a bit inconvenient to have to wait to flag someone down just to get the check.
Pancakes are big, hands down delicious, and come with a syrup that has a refreshing hint of orange. The burrito, while generously sized and great for sharing, wasn't as impressive. The interior of Golden Diner is cozy and intimate, giving it a welcoming feel. Despite the smaller space, makes it harder to book a spot so make sure to reverse a time lost in advance, for an excellent breakfast options that make it worth a visit. Don't miss out on the pancakes!
