Granville State Forest is a Massachusetts state park located in the towns of Granville and Tolland in the southern Berkshire Hills along the state's southern border with Connecticut. The park is managed by the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR). It is adjacent to Connecticut's Tunxis State Forest.DescriptionThis area was once the Tunxis Native American tribe's hunting and fishing grounds. After discovery by English pioneer Samuel Hubbard in 1749 much of it was converted to open pasture and farmland. Under protection, the forest is regenerating with typical northern conifers and hardwoods. The Hubbard River drops 450ft in 2.5mi, forming pools and waterfalls as it passes over various rock formations.Activities and amenitiesCamping: Granville offers a camping area with accessible restrooms and shower facilities. Camping season is from late-May through mid-October. Camping is available only at designated sites and no wilderness camping is allowed. There are a limited number of sites available for RVs up to 35 feet long. There are no hook-ups or trailer waste station. Trails: Trails may be used for hiking, walking, horseback riding, mountain biking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing.The forest also offers fishing and restricted hunting.

Booked 2 campsites for 2 nights despite seeing a few recent bad reviews. Did NOT experience any of the problems mentioned in reviews. Can only imagine that the guests were inappropriate and broke rules. We met all 4 Rangers including the manager and they were all super nice and helpfull. The campsites are beautiful and we'll maintained, bathrooms were meticulous and cleaned twice a day even though there were very few campers (weekday). Nobody harassed us at all, just checked with us a few times and even took our trash while they were there. All Rangers were friendly and seemed knowledgeable and genuinely concerned with the environment and maintaining the campground. Hiked some of the trails, very beautiful and peaceful. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we added 2 more days. Definitely going to make this a yearly vacation and will book a full week next year.

where to start? Went to this place expecting a nice and relaxing time with friends. Turns out that if you have beer in the trunk of your car, even if you're not drinking, you get kicked out. The guy from the front desk came over to "check" on us, pressed his face against one of our cars and saw an empty in the back and proceeded to yell at us and kick us out. Said that because we had red solo cups, that we were drinking, but when we told him to check them, he refused. We had reserved 3 campsites and when we got there we found they over booked and gave one of ours away but still found spots for us which was great! Then being kicked out after being there a few hours made us suspicious that they were still overbooked and needed spaces. We stopped back in the next morning early to check and sure enough, each site was filled with other people. That's enough to confirm my suspicions. The discrimination along with the rudeness of the staff, you can bet that I will be spreading this terrible experience around and ensuring others do not give them business.

My husband and I had a beautiful peaceful hiking in a small trail in this area. Be prepared to feel alive. Love the pine trees.

The camping police at this place really need to chill the "F" out!!! The sign clearly states no alcohol. And the 2 people working there this weekend, cared more about snooping around our campsite and peering in our vehicles than making sure the camp ground was clean. When we arrived our site was totally covered in leaves and pine needles. This afternoon when packing up, I pulled my truck up to the site. In the back of my truck I had some cardboard to help start our campfire. One box happened to be a bud light box. The worker accused us of drinking and then asked for our bag of trash so he could find the evidence. We didn't give him our trash. So anyone who chooses to go here, realize that when these guys come around, they are not being friendly, they are snooping around to kick you out. I would even go as far to say, if you see these guys around, put your bottled water away. They assume it alcohol.

STEER CLEAR OF THIS PLACE. Like many others. We encountered the same "camp police". 10 minutes into setting up we were evicted for having a box of beer. No warning no nothing. When asked about a refund form the mulitple days we had booked. He simply said not when youre evicted. This is the forest not some sort of apartment complex. 99% of outdoor and recreation employees I have met were kind outdoors loving people. The person we encountered was not nice at all and seemed to get some sort of enjoyment out of tossing us out. We would've gladly tucked our beer away and enjoyed our night without it but unfortunately this place and theyre employees.
