Greek Souvlaki

About

Established in 1972, Greek Souvlaki is known for being the first restaurant to ever serve the Gyro Sandwich in Utah. We have won Best Gyro over 10 years!

Story

Greek Souvlaki was founded in 1972 by Lee and Mary Paulos. They were the first to bring yeeros (gyros) to Utah. It was a family visit back to Greece that sparked the idea of a restaurant. Lee's brother, Tasos Petropoulos, owned a small restaurant serving yeeros in Pireaus and Lee noticed that the tourists loved them.

At first, Greek Souvlaki only sold three items: yeeros (gyro), souvlaki, and beefteki. The red sauce was the specialty sauce, in fact white sauce was added many years later! With Mary's home made recipes and Lee's inventive and creative mind, they added many other items to their menu.

The business has grown with two additional stores since Lee and Mary retired in the year 2000. Great customer service, good quality products, and absolute dedication was the recipe for success. Their sons Frank, Leo, and Chris have taken over the business and are using that same recipe for the future of Greek Souvlaki!

The workers were very kind and attentive. The food was excellent. I went for my birthday even though it's not a full restaurant and they put tables together for my family and I to dine together. The food is always got and fresh. The grill cook in the back is always seeming to be working hard. I really enjoy it here for being a fast dine restaurant.

Said they couldn't serve rice when that was the whole reason we chose that place to eat. It was a very big let down. If you're going to have a Greek restaurant you need to always have rice available to sell. It's a very important part of the experience.

Sometimes this place does great and other times, not so much. This latest experience was not a great one. They were so busy and when I got my food it was a little colder than what I would have preferred on a hot gyro.

Had the philly gyro and a cup of lentil bean soup. Delicious. Staff was friendly and service only took a few minutes.

My mother absolutely spinach pie, and cannot find it anywhere else to the point of her liking. I had gotten the cheese burger, and this is the most amazing cheese burger I have gotten from a fast food place.
