Story

Green Dragon Tavern & Museum is the latest major attraction to open in the Carlsbad, CA, area. The 22,000 sq. ft. space will feature a museum, restaurant, tavern, coffee house and meeting space.

GDTM creates a welcoming atmosphere for celebrating, remembering and honoring early American history, our founding fathers and their many contributions to our past and modern day society. Offering complimentary admission, the Green Dragon Museum will house documents from the Colonial and Revolutionary War-eras and will provide individuals of all ages with an opportunity to further appreciate our country's rich history.

Additionally, Chef Greg Krol has created a menu for Green Dragon Tavern & Restaurant that reflects "old world" meets "new world" cuisine and features all locally farmed and sustainable ingredients. Diners will have a chance to experience Chef Krol's skillful, culinary masterpieces while enjoying the atmosphere, ambiance and historical charm of Green Dragon Tavern & Restaurant.

Easter Sunday.  Restaurant had some issues with cook not showing up.  Waited an hour for food.  Manager gave us the meal on the house.  Had to eat fast to make an appointment or I would have given 5 stars.  All is well that ends well.  Food was very good. I have a rule never to go to a restaurant on a holiday.  I will never do this again.

Girlfriend and I went her for an anniversary. We got the nice table right next to the fire place. Thanks for that! It was so nice and warm. Very interesting historical recreation of the green dragon tavern.

I got the tavern burger with pastrami and cheese and God damn it was good. Girlfriend got scallops and enjoyed them. The server was really busy but still got our orders in and out. Come for some beer or wine too!

The museum doesn't have many great artifacts, but it does have a ton of good information and reproductions. The food is also pretty darn amazing. Not a huge lunch selection, but bacon that literally melts in your mouth is awesome. It is a bit pricey though. The gift shop has a ton of stuff when fully stocked.

The food was wonderful. I loved learning of the historical background behind the name of the restaurant. There are portraits and paintings throughout the restaurant of our founding fathers and Presidents as well as a  museum portion of the history of those that settled America. I highly recommend this very unique restaurant, bar and museum. A great experience.

I had never gone to lunch here before,only dinner. It was reasonable, ample portions and delicious.  12-1 is pretty busy in the bar area.  Friends from Pensylvania were visiting,and they enjoyed it. Check out the Museum and the coffee/ snack shop. They have great books for young kids relation to US history and it's Presidents.
