I'm disappointed to report my poor experience with this firm. Specifically with their office manager, Debra. I more than appreciate qualifying opportunities. In fact as a home owner - I was excited to share. I gave her all my specs via email a week ago and then again today on the phone. I openly volunteered my top line budget. Their work looks very creative and innovative based on their Website, Facebook and YouTube posts. Very impressive. Without getting into the weeds, the conversation with Debra, the office manager, was very unprofessional, unproductive and redundant (which is redundant). I let it go, hoping I could still try to work with the creative folks running this firm. When her discussion turned condescending, explaining how they receive very many inquiries, suggesting most people do not understand what they want, becoming erratically defensive and then exclaiming they do million dollar jobs, I had to decline further discussion. First impressions and customer service are king. If you can't get that right - it's a red flag. I'm disappointed because I really wanted to invite Green Island Design to bid and see what they had to offer.

I knew I was going to hire GID after my initial meeting with Mark. He took the time to listen and had a complete understanding of what we wanted for our young children and as well as ourselves. Our first meeting ended with a concept sketch on a legal pad and we agreed to move forward with a completed design consultation. I was actually impressed with the initial sketch and my wife and I were just blown away with the computer generated presentation. Check it out on youtube by searching Oysterbay Poolscapes. We contracted GID in the fall of 2014 and the following April work began. Mark was involved in every aspect of the project as promised. A pool builder was already contracted and Mark worked closely with them for the design and proper dig. Looking back, the only regret was not having GID build the pool as they would have had full control and authority. The entire company is courteous, polite and they show up on time. The best part is Mark was always accessible by phone or text. Mark and Jon also became trusted resources for other decisions without hesitation. Automation, Two LED Color Pool lights, Furniture and sprinklers to name a few. We did not change a single thing with the design and trusted his judgement on the recommendation of Toffee Onyx Lite Cambridge XL pavers. The crew worked extremely hard and settled for nothing less than perfection. Our backyard came out exactly the way it was presented and Mark carefully picked each piece of the landscape and oversaw the placement. After years of dealing with contractors, it was nice to see that that GID was so personally invested from the beginning through the end. We are reminded of the beautiful work daily and would highly recommend them to anyone.

Excellent, very professional! Their one of a kind design -- ideas no one else came even close to -- translated into the most beautiful property we could have ever imagined. Everything was perfect, and the entire staff is top notch. My advice would be to save yourself a lot of headaches, call them first.

We recently worked with Green Island Design on a large backyard project. Initially we were nervous about how this project would come together, the designer explained things clearly and came up with an amazing plan. They then brought in their workers who built our pool, patio, outdoor kitchen and fireplace. The landscape crew finished things up and I couldn't be happier. Not only was the work exceptional, but they handled all the coordination and made the experience very enjoyable. I would recommend Green Island to anyone looking to do a project at their home.

Terrible. I called to ask for someone to come give an estimate on what would have been a big job and the woman, who claimed to the general manager stated that unless I told her how much I wanted to spend I could go elsewhere and she hung up on me. It's rare that I write a negative review but this experience with this company is worth notating. Quite a first impression...and last!
